A king size four poster bedroom with it’s own entrance via patio doors beside the river Dropt. There is outside seating by the river with views to the island and mill house. The bedroom and en-suite are on a single level located in a private annex to the main house. Nestled in the heart of the French countryside, our site is perfectly located for a sightseeing holiday to the Perigord region. Completely secluded and private, but less than 1Km from local amenities. This riverside property has its own private island and fishing is available on site. There is a mill house on the island that we run as a gîte. On site we have a swimming pool which B&B guests can use, but priority access is given to people renting the mill house. Private gated parking, with access to the 7 acre estate including our river island, games room (table tennis and darts) and rowing boat. Our pool is open from June to September and you can use this although priority access is given to our gite guests. There will always be somebody at La Grande Maison to assist with enquiries. You can talk to us as much or as little as you like. We are happy to offer advise on local tourist attractions, restaurants and of course wine. Located just outside a small hamlet called La Sauvetat- du-Dropt [1km]. It is also close to the touristic and beautiful bastide town of Eymet [4Km]. Both Bergerac and Marmande are a short drive away [30 mins]. This area is famous for its vineyards with multiple “degustation” places to sample the locally produced wines of Duras, Bergerac and Monbazillac. The famous wine regions of Bordeaux including St Emilion and Sauterne are within one hour's drive. This special place is not isolated, being close to many tourist hotspots with local amenities within walking distance. For all the attractions the Dordogne has to offer, drive up to Bergerac then follow the river east towards the Vezere valley and Sarlat. We would recommend having a car to explore the area. However, it is an easy walk to the local shop in Sauvetat and there are pleasant walks around the property so you may not wish, or need, to drive every day. The property is listed as part of a conservation area so there is no short of diverse wildlife to see.
