Barn conversion with Pool
"Le Waystation" is a restored coaching inn dating back over 500 years in parts. This private villa is part of the building and has been reconfigured as a ground-floor apartment with spacious kitchen, your own private garden and large plunge pool boasting amazing views. Private entrance, private parking. Nestled in dramatic landscape with amenities nearby. Please note the property is not suitable for children under the age of 12 or people planning to have a party. There are 2 bedrooms - one master bedroom and the other which is currently furnished with 2 single beds. If, however, you wish the second bedroom to contain a double bed instead, let us know and we can change it. There is also a sofa bed in the living room which can be converted. Your private garden is surrounded by a wall and fence on the other side and includes a private pool and private terrace (with a plancha - hot plate - for outdoor cooking). There are 2 Bathrooms. One with a toilet and sink and the other with a shower, toilet and sink The apartment was built on a single level to be easily accessible but it is not strictly-speaking wheelchair friendly. Guests have access to their own large private plunge pool (4.6m x 2.2m), garden, terrace with outdoor cooking facilities and parking right by their private entrance set back from the road. The apartment and garden are totally self-contained but there is an apartment adjacent so we do ask that there be no noise or running around before 9 am or after 10:30pm out of courtesy for our neighbours and us. The apartment is attached to our house and we are available at any time for assistance. We are passionate about the area, happy to provide any local insight or information as to things to do, restaurants to recommend, places to visit or shop. Daniela speaks fluent French. Despite feeling like you are in the middle of nowhere surrounded by mountains (there are stunning walks on our doorstep), we are less than 5 minutes drive away from a large supermarket (Carrefour) with 24 hour petrol station and 7 minutes away from the centre of Quillan which boasts 18 restaurants, weekly markets, shops and boulangeries. We are spoilt for activities, steeped in history with impressive castles within half an hour, amazing natural wonders, white water rafting on our door step, fishing, fine dining, gliding, swimming lakes etc. We are 80 minutes from the Mediterranean in one direction and in the other you will be on the ski slopes in less than an hour. We are 60 minutes from Carcassonne airport, 100 minutes from Toulouse airport and less than 3 hours from Barcelona - all have numerous car hire options available. Public transport is very poor here and taxis are expensive so we would not recommend coming without your own transport. We have created a large parking space off the main road by your private entrance and there is also more space available in front of our home's entrance on the road. There has been a way station here for hundreds of years being half way between Perpignan and Carcassonne on what used to be the old main route. The apartment has been rebuilt from the old barn, we have retained some of the original features whilst adding all the modern comforts in we would want to have on holiday.
