The Hopewood guest cottage is part of the Hopewood estate. Built in 1938 the private guest cottage over looks the extensive gardens of Hopewood. A private setting, a relaxing front porch and all found in the North Carolina mountains. Enjoy the charm of the Flat Rock village, the State Theater of North Carolina, near by Hendersonville and a short 25 miles to Asheville. The Tryon International Equestrian Center is 21 miles from Hopewood The guest house was built in 1938 and has been restored to it is original condition. Oak floors, plaster walls and fully updated bathrooms and kitchen bring together what is old with what is new. The front porch is a perfect place to relax as is the setting in the trees on the cottage’s front yard. Something is always in bloom and guest are invited to visit the gardens and pick flowers for the house. All the Hopewood grounds and gardens are available to guest. Quiet private roads on the property are ideal for both walking and bike rides. Planting’s at Hopewood date back to the original 1877 home. Don’t miss the Japanese Maple in the front yard which we believe was planted in the 1890’s. The back meadow is perfect for a family baseball game or just plenty of room for kids to run and have fun. While we respect your privacy, while at Hopewood just let us know if you would like a guided tour of the gardens and grounds. In the heart of historic Flat Rock, NC., the Hopewood Estate is a listed as a contributing property within the Flat Rock Historic District as found on the National Register of Historic Places. The historic district covers 6.25 square miles, the largest historic district in the State of North Carolina. The Flat Rock was established in 1807. A trip to the cemetery at St John in the Wilderness and the church itself should be on your list of stops.
