Rome mountain home with fantastic views
In the pedestrian Centro Storico of the tiny village of Gerano, right outside the city of Rome, this centuries old lovingly-renovated little house is made for relaxation and de-stressing from city life. Direct mountain views from every window. The house is ideal both for Summer and Winter because the thick walls keep it cool in summer, especially the bedrooms which are on the lower floor. Central heating is found throughout for the colder months. There is one main bedroom and two sitting rooms, one on each floor. The sofas open up into very comfortable beds. All parts of the house are accessible to guests. All the furnishings and accessories are my own personal ones but are available for use by guests, apart from any clothing or toiletries which might be in wardrobe or cabinets. Linen is available in the house itself and laundry and house-cleaning service may be reserved at a cost on booking. I shall be always available telephonically, together with family members, in case of need. A trusted friend/family member is always physically available if required, for any information/recommendations. Gerano (Roma)is unique and very special to me because it is so close to the city of Rome, the most fantastic city in the world, which is only 35 minutes away by car. The chaos that is Rome nowadays is left behind as soon as you leave the GRA (the Rome ring road) and you begin smiling once you see the green hills of the Valle dell 'Aniene. Gerano s Centro Storico is all pedestrian and a beatific silence reigns; a silence which is redolent of beautiful aromas of home cooking wafting out of the local houses where the 'massaie' (housewives) knead their pasta dough for the daily noon meal 'il pranzo'. The sound of the church bells and the occasional scream of an eagle eases my soul and regenerates me. Being in Gerano for a few days, helps me find myself after the chaos and stress of the daily grind of the rat race and city life. When I return to city and office life, I feel born anew. Parking is close by and only a few minutes away since the house is in a pedestrian area. The village of Gerano is only 35 minutes away from the centre of Rome, and 20 minutes away from Tivoli, the Roman emperors' summer residence. Lots of shopping and sightseeing in Tivoli, where like in Rome, each street corner has its wonders. Subiaco should merit a visit to see the Monastero Benedettino, where St Benedict was an hermit and the other Monastero di Santa Scolastica, where different architectural styles can be seen in one building. Public transport is available from Piazza Nova, which is reached by either following the main road down through the main square to the bus stop, or down the flight of stairs from the closest belvedere to the house to the parking area ' Nassiriya' and a short walk down to the bus stop. Please remember that my house is in a pedestrian area, so the car would have to be parked a few minutes away. Parking is easily available but there are some allotted parking slots in the village core which might be at a slight cost. Parking tickets to be bought in the village square. Various 'Sagre' (Food festivals) are held throughout the year, both in Gerano and in all the surrounding villages, where the gorgeous typical very good Roman food is very much sought by locals and foreigners alike.
