The Green Woodpecker - for yurt dwellers!

We would love to welcome you in the sleepy village of Kán. The yurt finds it spot halfway up the slope on our 1 ha of land. Halfway between the old stable and the forest. You have the view over the valley, with its diversity of colours and its sunrise. The sounds of the many woodpeckers, red deer and jackals, but also you will hear the silence! The yurt is 6 meter diameter. It has a double bed and we can add one single. There is a picknicktable in the shade and a bench on the deck to enjoy the view. The shared kitchen in the old stable and bathroom is a walk of about 80 meters. There is a big bbq, a shady terrace behind the stables and a lot of space to share. The woodfired hottub can fit up to 6 people (the record so far is 7 ). There are veggies and herbs available. Since the beginning of 2017 we, Dougal and Sanneke, have been on and of renovating the place. When we have guests (ready for them as of April 2018) we will be around. We can make a delicious breakfast and do the occasional dinner or refer you to a neighbour who is a great cook! Kán is a quiet village at the end of the road. There are no shops or bars in Kán, we do have an organic farm at walking distance for meat, great cheese, eggs... At 5 km you will find the closest village with a small shop. There are many day trips to make. We love the city of Pécs, a 45 min drive. It is a very lively and beautiful town. They do a great light festival among many others. Orfü is a half hour drive. It is a touristy place, great to go for a swim in the lake. Here you can also go horse riding. For the closest natural spa you drive 10 min further to Magyarhertelend. Of course if you want more nature there are the Mecsek mountains! Another of our favourites is the bear garlic extravaganza in our region at the beginning of April. When we came to have a look at this house, we fell in love with the place as soon as we turned of the tar road. Then there was still four km to go! You can say a lot about the road (and in Kán we do!), for sure it is slow and very bumpy ... But like a friend of us says: bad roads bring good people, good roads bring everyone! You need a car to get around, but we are also happy to pick you up from the train station in Szentlörinc, about 2,5 hours train from Budapest. After a few days here you don't want to leave anyway! Pets are welcome, but since we have a (male) dog and two cats who freely roam the place, only chilled animals or animals on a lead allowed.
