Come to stay in one of the most delightful & historic towns in Ireland. Cobh (An Cóbh) (Queenstown from (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) and its harbour is famous for being the last port of call for the ill-fated RMS Titanic, the naval importance of Cork Harbour, Spike Island Prison, Haulbowline Naval Base, the RMS Lusitania and many other fascinating pieces of Irish History. With many pubs, restaurants, museums, areas of wildlife and easy access to loads of family related fun, Cobh is the perfect destination! Ideal for small families - two adults and up to two children (or three adults and one small child). The house is part of a Victorian terrace of townhouses built in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) and the guest area encompasses the ground floor. Our house was originally used as living quarters for British Army NCO's and their families, the street at that time was called "Barracks View". The barracks is now no longer here, but in its place is a small serene public park. Our house, which was originally part of the Fota Estate, later became tenement housing and finally a residential property. West View, along with "The Crescent" (historic houses in an adjacent road) is reputed to have been designed by Queen Victoria's personal architect as a favour to the local land-owner, a friend of Victoria. We have lovingly restored the property, retaining as many of its original features as possible, making it a very calming and comfortable place to live and stay. There is a standard double bed in the first guest bedroom, at the front of the house. In the second, smaller rear guest bedroom, there is a standard single bed and we offer the additional use of a children's mattress on the floor (for a child under ten years of age). This will be free for a fourth member of the family, should it be required (bedclothes included). Our rooftop garden is perfect for a relaxing breakfast in the morning sunshine! Facilities also include unlimited Wi-Fi, unlimited hot water and a Nespresso coffee machine. The bells of St. Coleman's strike the hour, with chimes on the quarters, between 7am & 11pm. Bedroom #1 with standard double bed. Bedroom #2 with standard single bed, also a pull out child's mattress. Private bathroom with bath, shower (over bath), sink & toilet. Utility area with washing machine & dryer. Rooftop garden, table and four chairs. Kitchen area for preparation of breakfast (upon request). We live in the house and one of us will usually be available during your stay to assist you, answer questions or offer advice. There are folders in your room showing a huge selection of things to do and places to visit during, or following, your stay in Cobh. We are always happy to assist in planning your trip. Highly recommended while staying here; Fota Wildlife Park, House & Gardens Spike Island tour (booking required in advance via website) Titanic Trails walking tour (booking required in advance via website) St. Coleman's Cathedral Cork Harbour tour (booking required in advance via website) Breakfast/brunch in Sea Salt Cafe & Deli (2 minute's walk away) A pint in the Roaring Donkey (great for rugby and Trad music), Kelly's Bar (all live sport & music) or The Rob Roy (good for Trad music & cocktails ...and no TV!) Restaurants also include The Quays, Jacobs (Waters Edge Hotel), The Commodore Hotel, The Titanic Bar & Restaurant and more, all in easy walking distance. Street parking is free outside of the house and there is easy access to trains & busses should you prefer not to drive during your stay! Cobh Connect is a bus service linking with Cork City (1 minutes walk to the stop) and Cobh railway station is a few minutes walk away, offering access to Fota Wildlife Park, Fota House & Gardens, Midleton (Jameson Museum) and Cork City. There are a large number of things to do within walking distance of the house, including a beach (pebbled), three museums, self-drive family boats, two children's playgrounds, several historic tours and a leisure centre. If you do wish to drive, we are in easy reach of the N25 giving access to the whole of County Cork, its walks, beaches, golf courses, beauty spots, shopping and much, much more! The available space is most suited to two adults with two children or 3 adults and one small child. The second bedroom has a single bed and a pull out mattress. Neither the room or the mattress is suitable to be shared by 2 adults.
