Mary's grange is a pretty converted barn nestled in a small southern Charentais hamlet. With a spacious interior, private garden and terrace, there will be plenty of opportunity to unwind and immerse yourself in the countryside. Mary's place is spacious yet cosy, and has a very friendly ambiance. The hamlet just has a few houses and so is tranquil and relaxing. The garden is very private and there is a lovely large terrace for al fresco meals and drinks. In the summer when they are in season, it is possible to buy delicious strawberries, melons, tomatoes and other fresh vegetables close by the house. The entire house and garden are for the use of the guests. Myself or my son Henry will be available to help you with any questions you have. The charming nearby towns of St Aulaye, Aubeterre, Bonne and Chalais provide restaurants, weekly markets and supermarkets. The beautiful river Dronne meanders through the pretty towns and villages. There are many beaches with cafes and restaurants within a short car journey or bike ride and river-side activities for the whole family to enjoy. There are also some quiet spots to discover where you can climb down to the river and be totally alone, if you prefer swimming in tranquility. The area is perfect for cycling with quiet river-side tracks for many miles if you like a gentle ride, and also hillier routes if you feel like more of a challenge. Generally the area is famous for soft rolling hills and lush countryside, with fields of sunflowers, vineyards, rivers, lakes and pretty villages. The picturesque vineyards of Bordeaux start about a half an hour drive from the house, and Cognac about an hour North. The house is equipped with fast fibre wifi network, Freeview British TV and hundreds of French TV channels. There are cycling and walking routes by the river and in the countryside straight from your doorstep. Bed linen and towels are provided.
