The Dower House offers peace and tranquility in the middle of a working dairy farm. The garden gate takes you out onto a network of footpaths where you can enjoy the scenic Somerset Levels. A short drive will take you to the eclectic market towns of Langport and Somerton with a wide range of shops selling local produce and antiquities. Street, with Clarks Village Shopping outlets is 10 miles and will satisfy the most eager of shoppers! There are three bedrooms, two with King size beds (one downstairs next door to the shower room) and the gallery bedroom with a Super king which can be made into 2 singles - please notify the host when booking your requirement. There is a fully fitted kitchen with all the necessities including fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, etc. The open plan dining area, just outside the kitchen opens up onto the large sitting room. The conservatory is just off the sitting room, with further comfortable chairs and dining furniture, where you can sit and enjoy the views. There is a bar b q just outside the conservatory for guests use. There is a large shower room downstairs, and a family bathroom with bath upstairs. A fully fenced walled garden with table, benches and sun umbrella is alongside the conservatory. Welcome packs are provided so you can relax after your journey and familiarise yourselves with the house and the wide range of local information that is provided for you. Parking is in the Courtyard just in front of property. The Courtyard is shared with the host and her family. Situated next door to the owner's who are readily available for help and advice. Aller is a village and parish in Somerset and steeped in ancient history - The Battle Of Sedgemoor; St Andrew's Church where it is believed Guthrum the Dane was christened; the Farm and The Dower House are situated on one of "the lost islands of Somerset" to name a few. The village has a population of 410. The parish includes the hamlet of Beer and the deserted medieval village of Oath on the opposite bank of the River Parrett. Locally made Cider, and Smith and Evans Vineyard are all in the Parish offering locally brewed Cider, Wines, local cheeses and Vineyard tours. Basket making, willow weaving, tours and lessons are also available locally. The Dragon Pool is in the village and you should contact them direct for availability. Bike and boat hire is available in Langport - 2.5 miles away. There is plenty of opportunity for retail therapy - Clark's Village is a 15 minute drive, Taunton, Yeovil, Glastonbury, Sherborne & Wells are within a 30 minute drive, together with Bruton which hosts the acclaimed The Newt country estate with magnificent woodlands and gardens and Hawser and Worth. The Jurassic Coast is within an hour. Boats and bicycles can be hired locally. Aller is a rural village and guests will need a car or bike (bike hire available, locally) to explore the neighbouring villages and towns further. There are plenty of walks, and the network of footpaths can be accessed from the garden gate in front of the property. Beer and Aller Woods are also easily accessible on foot.
