Oak Croft is a self contained annex situated in a quiet hamlet not far from Leominster. The property has two bedrooms, one with a king double and the other can be either 2 singles or a super king double. It is around half an hour from Hereford, Ludlow and Hay-on-Wye. There are great walking and cycling opportunities nearby. Fantastic views of the surrounding countryside peace and quiet and comfortable accommodation. Oak Croft is good for couples, friends, business travellers, and families. The bedrooms and bathroom are on the ground floor, with the living space upstairs to make the most of the views and vaulted ceilings. Bedroom one has a king-sized bed. The second bedroom can be set up as a super-king double or a twin room. The bathroom has a full sized bath with shower over it. Upstairs there is a fully equipped kitchen with hob, oven, fridge (with ice box), microwave and dishwasher. There are two comfortable two-seater sofas, TV, DVD player and a selection of DVDs, a wood burning stove as well as a dining table and four chairs. The living space is upstairs and we do not have any stair gates, guests with small children should be aware of this. You are welcome to explore the garden, and can barbecue and eat outside in the summer months (there are ponds in the garden and children should be accompanied at ALL times) Parking available just in the gate right by the property. If you plan to bring more than two vehicles please let us know. Oak Croft is attached to our house and we are around and happy to assist. We can recommend places visit, eat and drink and we have maps and guide books available for you to borrow. Aulden is hamlet of six houses surrounded by farmland. There are no street lights so it is a great place for stargazing. The nearest shops are in Leominster - about 4 miles away. There are pubs in Leominster but the nearest (just) is the Crown Inn, Dilwyn - just over 3 miles. We are four miles south west of Leominster and although we can pick you up from the station the nearest bus stop is a mile away (except on Friday when one stops right outside!). A car, or bike, is recommended. Herefordshire is a beautiful county; famous for cider, beef, beautiful villages. It's only about three hours from London, and hour and a half from Birmingham and Bristol, it could be a different world. Leominster is the closest town at 4 miles away, famous for its antiques shops that have featured on various television series. There is a great range of price and quality ranging from thousands of pounds to a few pence, the Priory with its ducking stool is worth investigating. As are the various festivals held throughout the year. There is a good range of independant shops as well as a few of the usual high street shops. Hereford is the nearest large town 13 miles to the south and less than half an hour by car. The cathedral is home to the Hereford Mappa Mundi created in c1300 it is the largest medival map known to exist. You can also see a copy of the 1217 Magna Carta and Hereford's famous Chain Libary. Many of the usual chain stores as well as a few independant shops. You can see the recently formed Hereford FC play at Edgar Street for as little as £8, but tickets can sell quickly. There is an Odeon Cinema and an Arts Centre with a theatre that also shows films. Ludlow Famous for its castle and slow food movement is around 13 miles to the north; again it is around half an hour away. The market square hosts regular markets showcasing a wide variety of local produce. Hay-on-Wye home to the world famous Hay Literary Festival Hay is just over half an hour away. Easy to spend a happy afternoon in the numerous books shops selling new and second hand books and strolling round this pretty town while enjoying an ice cream from Shepard's. Ledbury is a pretty Little market town around 20 miles away. You could combine a visit with a trip to the Malvern Hills There are several trails within easy access of Oak Croft. Including The Mortimer Trail, The Shropshire Way, The Herefordshire Trail, Wye Valley Walk and Offa's Dyke. Numerous short circular walks a short drive from the property. It is also possible walk inthe local area on quiet roads, bridal ways or footpaths.
