I look forward to connecting to people travelling to the Charwood area and I aim to make each guest experience this place just like a local. Thanks for taking interest in our idyllic Quorn farmhouse and I hope to talk to you soon! Quorn is one of the most charming villages in the Charnwood Forest, Leicestershire area. The house is situated in a friendly and quiet neighbourhood just walking distance from the centre of Quorn or, Mountsorrel. Quorn Village life centres around its ‘local’, and welcoming pubs and cafes including the Royal Oak, Manor House, White Horse, Fox and restaurants like, Charnia, the Monk and Pretzels. With an award winning park in the centre of this leafy village, it was recently voted one of the best villages to bring up children in the UK. Mountsorrel’s Swan and Waterside Inn are also only walking distance and offer tranquil canal views. The Leicester arm of the Grand Union Canal runs through Mountsorrel, where you can admire its grand Buttercross, or visit Stonehurst Family Farm, home to Leicestershire’s only Michelin-starred restaurant, John’s House. Or, take a nostalgic steam journey from the restored Great Central Railway station from Quorn, to Rothley. Charnwood Forest is renowned for incredible landscapes comprising ancient woodland, historic parks and some of England’s oldest rocks. Fossil discoveries in the area have changed our ideas on animal evolution, and its geology has also played an important role in its economy, with Charnwood stone quarried for millennia. Swithland slate was used for roofing across the UK, and granites continue to be quarried around Bardon and Mountsorrel. As you wander Charnwood’s picturesque villages, you’ll see these ancient rocks – grey and purple-tinged Swithland slates and pink-hued Mountsorrel granites – used together to give buildings an aesthetically unusual but nonetheless charming finish. Discover historic slate workers’ cottages in Woodhouse Eaves and stroll to St Paul’s Church, sat atop former quarry, the Stone Hole, and close to the village’s Mountsorrel granite war memorial. Local bus service 127 runs along Leicester Road. There is a bus stop only 5 minutes walk away.
