Shibden View Cottage: A luxury renovated getaway
Our historic cottage is nestled on the side of the dramatic Shibden valley, famous as the home of Ann Lister, 'Gentleman Jack'. Shibden View offers luxury, self-catering accommodation for up to four adults. Situated on the cobbled Hough, our recently renovated, 18th century building boasts two en-suite bedrooms, a fully fitted kitchen/diner and a cosy , first floor lounge with panoramic views over Shibden Hall and estate. Free, off-street parking and WiFi, with enclosed outdoor seating areas. Shibden View Cottage has stunning views and benefits from a total refurbishment, completed in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) The cottage features a log burner in the spacious kitchen/diner, which is fitted with a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer and microwave. The cosy upstairs lounge has a juliette balcony and double doors which can be opened to maximise the stunning views. Two comfortable bedrooms with king sized beds, one can be split into two singles if required (please let us know when booking). Both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with showers. There is one parking space available at the property and additional parking on the roadside. Buses run locally and there is a train station in Halifax. More detailed transport information is available at the property. We live within 3 miles of the cottage and we will provide our contact details. We will leave the key in a key safe to allow you a flexible check-in. There will be a welcome pack containing tea, coffee, milk and a bottle of wine. There is lots of information available in the cottage about the surrounding area including places to eat, local attractions, bike hire etc. The cottage is a short walk from Shibden Hall which is the focus of the BBC drama series written by Sally Wainwright, ‘Gentleman Jack’, exploring the life of Anne List (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) and those who lived in the Hall and Estate. Shibden Hall can be seen from our cottage. The cottage is a 10 minute drive from the Halifax Piece Hall, The Piece Hall is nestled within a dramatic landscape of rolling hills and wooded valleys at the centre of the West Yorkshire town of Halifax. This is Britain’s last surviving cloth hall and, following a multi-million pound transformation project, now features independent shops, cafes and bars, heritage visitor centre, art gallery and a spectacular events programme. The Shibden valley itself is a stunning location for walking, running or cycling. The Penine Bridleway National Trail, including the Mary Towneley Loop, passes through the area, as well as the Calderdale Way. There are shorter walks available locally which take you past the famous filming locations of the 'Gentleman Jack' series. Public transport is available, buses to Halifax and Leeds run close-by. In Halifax centre there are train and bus stations, approximately 3 miles from the cottage. In the cottage, you will find information about local walking routes. We do accept well behaved, clean dogs with responsible owners. We charge £20 per pet, per booking to cover additional cleaning fees.
