The Manor House, Near Loch Ness in Glen Urquhart

The Manor House is the original farmhouse of the country estate at Balbeg, near Loch Ness and Drumnadrochit, with Urquhart Castle and Nessie are close by. The house was built in 1888 and was fully renovated in 2011 adding a new kitchen extension and conservatory. With 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, this cottage is unique with its own conservatory. This beautiful and secluded location is surrounded by farmland and is for anyone looking for a holiday in a central location to tour best of the highlands. The Manor House sits on top of the hill in picturesque Glenurquhart in the small village of Balbeg. The house has 180 degree views of Glenurquhart overlooking Loch Meklie and up to the mountains of the West coast up to 40 miles away. The house is surrounded by a working hill farm and backs onto moorland. The Isle of Skye and the famous village of Plockton can be toured within a day returning to Glenurquhart in the evening. Inverness is 20 minutes away by car. Castle Stuart Golf Course is a mere 25 miles away. The Manor house comes as a complete household, with a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, living room, conservatory, and amenities including bed sheets, towels, pillows. The garden is half an acre and is fully fenced and gated with an outdoor table and chairs and an outside fire place and BBQ. To the back of the property lies the ruins of old stone barn from 1888. Balbeg is a quiet country street, with the main shops in Drumnadrochit a few miles down the road. Groceries can also be ordered online from Asda and Tesco and delivered to the house. (Number 1 Balbeg, Glenurquhart, IV636TL). There is a small country pub, The Steading, about 2 miles up the glen towards Cannich where you can get meals. There are also a number of different hotels and restaurants in Drumnadrochit down the glen. Golf Inverness has 3 golf courses and is 20 miles away. Castle Stuart golf links, the home of the 2012 Scottish open are 25 miles away. Ski & Snowboard Avimore can be reached in 60 minutes if weather permits. The best way to find the house is to put Balnain school on the A831 into your GPS. Coming from Drumnadrochit, when you arrive at the traffic lights at the school, turn right and go up to the top of the hill about 1 mile. The house is on the right hand side after the white bungalow and is signposted The Manor House on the gate. Please take care when driving up the hill, it is quite steep and the road is narrow. Parking Ample parking is available on the property. WiFi WiFi is available within the house. The wifi is pre-loaded with 1GB data for your use. Extra data can be purchased at the post office in Drumnadrochit. 1 GB is normally sufficient for most guests for emails and suchlike. Family Friendly There is a childrens cot and highchair available, as well as kites, and an array of cards, board games and puzzles. Check in and Out You can check in after 2pm on the day of your arrival but check out is by 10 am in the morning as we need to clean the house for the next guests arriving in the afternoon. If nobody is arriving or leaving on that day you may be able to schedule an early check in or late checkout with Debbie. The keys to the house are in a key security box at the window sill at the kitchen door. Please put the key back inside the box when you leave.
