Glangwynedd Cottage
A cosy self catering cottage in attractive rural location near the river Dulas. Within walking distance of the old market town of Machynlleth and railway station. Close to mountains, rivers and coast. There is one bedroom with a double bed and the other bedroom sleeps 3 in bunk beds and a single bed. Downstairs in the lounge is a double sofa bed. Heating is provided by storage heaters and a woodturning stove at cooler times of the year. From the front of the cottage you have view over the river and the back to a wooded hillside. The cosy lounge has a wood burner. There is small but well provisioned kitchen (but no dishwasher) Upstairs the double bedrooms looks over the river and the second bed room has view to the back. It has a single bed and adult size bunk beds and is very snug, so good for children or adults who know each other well! The lounge also has a double sofa bed. The cottage does not have a washing machine but I can provide a laundry service if required and there is a laundrette in Machynlleth. Internet can be provided at a charge of £5 thanks to the generosity of our neighbour. There are towels for guest use in the bathroom, I just ask for £2 for their use. If you arrive by public transport, bike or foot there is no charge. Glangwynedd, built in the 1950's has a simple interior which has not had a modern makeover. The kitchen and bathroom are new with all facilities. A shared garden is out the back. When you stay in the cottage you can be as private as you like and we your hosts are just at the other end of the terrace to chat about the local area and give advice if needed. The cottage is in a very rural area close to the lovely mountain river Dulas which is crossed by a very ancient stone bridge. Walking up the hill there are lovely views down into the Dyfi valley with surrounding hills and pasture and woodland. A 20 minute walk across the valley via a foot & cycle path brings you to the old market town of Machynlleth. Many interesting birds can be seen around the cottage, with red kites gliding overhead and kingfishers on the river. If you are lucky you could see an otter in the river or hear it whistling at night. The railway line from Machynlleth can take to the sea side town of Aberystwyth or up the Cambrian coast line with its stunning views to the charming village of Aberdyfi with a long wild beach and then onwards to many villages along the coast. There are buses provided by Lloyds coaches and a request stop on the main road near the cottages. Time tables are in the cottage and of the Arriva trains. There is no street lighting here so you can go out at night and see the stars. Listen out for otters at night-they whistle on the river. A torch is useful to have with you.
