Newcroft, by the River Earn in the heart of Comrie
Newcroft is right by the River Earn in the heart of the beautiful village of Comrie. A peaceful spot with river views yet it's only a short walk up the lane to the village centre which boasts fantastic shops and places to eat and drink. Relax inside this charming, bright, cheery cottage and enjoy the lovely enclosed back garden with outside dining area. Surrounded by stunning Strathearn scenery you can enjoy outdoor activities and walks galore. A central location for exploring Scotland. A spacious area to the front of the house with ample space for three cars to park. Here you can sit on the bench, enjoy the morning sunshine and listen to the flow of the River Earn! Downstairs there's a dining kitchen with sociable round dining table seating six, dual aspect windows and stable door to the back garden - giving an open sunny feel. The bright and cheery living room has a window to the front and French doors leading to the back garden. The cottage is tastefully decorated throughout in calm fresh tones with l original art pieces adding splashes of colour. The family bathroom is downstairs and has a separate walk-in shower and bath plus a heated towel rail. The master bedroom upstairs has an ensuite toilet and handbasin. Upstairs there's 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed and windows to the front (river views) and back. It's nice and neutral with a hint of tartan and a handy ensuite WC with toilet and handbasin. The second bedroom, the tranquil twin room, has 2 single beds, windows to the front and back which includes views up to the Melville Monument on Dun More Hill. The third bedroom is perfect for children, it's nice and cosy with bunkbeds and a selection of books to read and lego to play with. The fully enclosed back garden has plenty of space to play and relax! You can enjoy the pretty outside sheltered seating area or 'sitooterie' as it's know in Scotland! Perfect for dining outside, bbq's and to relax in the fresh air. There's a hanging heated light for when it gets chilly. The garden is lawned and has borders and shrubs plus a wee patio area (leading from the living room French doors). The garage has bags of space to store equipment and there's a selection of quality bikes for our guests to take advantage of all the local cycling routes plus nearby Comrie Croft - a top destination for cyclists of all abilities . There is also a skateboard (Comrie has it's own skatepark!) and set of kids golf clubs - Comrie’s fantastic 9 hole course is practically on your doorstep! Guests can access all areas for their exclusive use and are welcome to store equipment in the spacious garage. I like to give guests their space to relax and enjoy their own piece of Perthshire! I am always contactable should there be any questions or issues. From a skate board stunt park to seismometer - this village is unique! Comrie - the place where the Rivers Earn, Ruchill and Lednock meet is steeped in history whilst surrounded by stunning scenery. With a backdrop of rolling hills and mountains plus it’s very own and very picturesque 9 hole golf course plus hike and bike hike trails in abundance - there's something for everyone. The White Church and Dalginross Bridge are the centrepiece of this conservation village which sits on the Highland Boundary Fault - hence the nickname Shaky Toon! Earthquake House (built in 1874), home of the first seismic recording station in the western world, still exists and measures tremors today. You’ll go past it on the Earthquake walk - a lovely loop to walk leaving from the cottage. Dare to visit the Deil's (devil’s) Cauldron and you won't be disappointed! A walk up Glen Lednock brings you to the spectacular waterfall which collects in the bubbling pool below, famously known as Deil's Cauldron. Add on the short sharp climb to the Melville monument and soak in the panoramic views. There are many walks in the area whether you want to bag a Munro or go for a gentle stroll. At nearby Comrie Croft you can enjoy 16km of blue, red and black mountain bike trails plus skills park. It's a lovely walk/cycle to Comrie Croft from the cottage where you can enjoy the views and treats from their Tea Garden or attend one of the pick your own flower session at Tomnah'a Market Garden. There's watersports galore at nearby Loch Earn were you can go water ski-ing, paddle boarding & kayaking. Comrie boasts local produce in abundance with a range of fantastic shops including a deli, butcher, bakers and fruit and veg shop. There are also places to eat and enjoy a drink including the delicious Deil's Cauldron restaurant. During the summer you can enjoy the beautiful flower displays in the village and enjoy the Comrie Fortnight the village festival. New Year is not to be missed with the famous Flambeux procession through the village led by the Comrie's Pipe Band. The fireworks display over the river and White Church is spectacular. The atmosphere is electric and even on the coldest of hogmanay nights you'll warm up with the heat of the flambeaux and some Scottish country dancing in the street! There is a local bus route to Crieff, Perth and St Fillans. There is plenty of private car parking space directly infront of the house (space for up to 3 cars). There is also a local taxi service and the nearest airports are Edinburgh and Glasgow - both are just over an hours drive away. Perth and Stirling train stations are both around 25 miles away and are on mainline train routes. There are amazing walks in the area that your dog will enjoy too! If you want to bring your dog (one dog only) please do let me know. I don't charge an extra fee and respectfully ask that dogs don't go upstairs or on the furniture.
