Ark Lanka

Our quirky little piece of paradise is situated right opposite Kabalana beach with two surf breaks, an endless stretch of beautiful sand and lots of Lankan vibes. There are also three other surf breaks within walking distance, as well as bars, restaurants and yoga facilities. We renovated Ark ourselves and are pretty pleased with the outcome of the long hours spent crafting and building- we hope you enjoy the space and vibe as much as we do. It is a house where you can just 'be'- it is basic but has all you need. The house is full of character and we can help with any tiny detail to make your stay as perfect and memorable as possible. Our spot is a little quirky and different- three of our rooms have mezzanine levels and so stairs/ladders are involved in the Ark adventure. There is nothing better than climbing up to your super comfy sleep cabin and dreaming of the pumping waves and perfect rays that you are going to catch the next day! When you wake up, you can head down to the kitchen, grab yourself a smoothie or a big mug of Ceylon tea and head out to the veranda to take in the first rays of the day. You will have full use of the kitchen (fridge, hob, kettle, toaster, toastie maker, blender) but, if you don't fancy cooking, you can always pop over the road to grab a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast or, if you are missing home, there are a range of Western options to keep you happy. Then head out for a surf, bake in the Sri Lankan sunshine or go and find your inner yogi at a close-by jungle yoga shala. Go adventuring on your scooter, book onto one of our National Park Safaris or challenge yourself to stand up paddle boarding in the backrivers and coastal regions of our perfect spot on the coast. There are lots of options and we can help you with the plotting to make sure you fill your days with fun! When you come home, jump in our outdoor shower or head up to your private bathroom to have a nice, powerful hot water shower before heading downstairs to cook up a feast and chill in the living room with a movie or head out to explore all that Ahangama has to offer! - Five varied surf breaks within walking distance, with the closest only 20m from our doorstep. - Bars, restaurants, endless beaches, yoga facilities plus some amazing tours and adventures. - A fully functional kitchen, with everything you need to cook up those delicious island breakfasts post-surf, or those evening meals to eat under the stars, surrounded by fireflies. - Lounge in our garden (front and back) or chill in a hammock on our veranda (you'll never want to move!) - Spreadeagle on our huge, comfy sofa and make the most of having one of the most chilled out living spaces in the south! A perfect hang out after a day in the ocean. - Every room has a fan and hot water shower, as well as a private balcony and french doors opening out into tropical paradise. - We have put together a guide for you about where to go and what to see, so you won't miss out on the inside tips of the area. - To avoid the use of plastic bottles we have got a water filter machine for you to use. - We happily organize trips, scooters, surf/yoga lessons etc. We are on call and usually just around the corner if you need us. We want everyone to feel at home here at Ark and we don't feel that having us hanging around creates that vibe. If you need anything at all then just call! Our neighbourhood is all about the beaches, surf and yoga, as well as local Sri Lankan culture! We are located just outside a traditional fishing village so you can experience 'real' Sri Lanka as well as the tropical beachy playground that we call home. There are some great bars and restaurants very close by, serving up both local and Western goodies! Fresh fruit juices and Thambili (king coconuts) are available everrrywhere and remind you daily that you are in paradise! You can walk to the surf but, if you fancy surfing a different break everyday, then they are easily accessible via tuk tuk, scooter or even the local bus! We are located on the main road so grabbing any kind of transport is super easy and we can help with any pre-planning that you would like to do. We are located on a main road which is awesome for accessibility and proximity to the beach (just on the other side of the road) but it does mean there can be traffic noise at busy times. The house is a great deal for groups and families to spread out along the 5 bedrooms.
