Oyster is a 300-year-old detached cottage that oozes charm and offers views of the stunning Exe Estuary. Oyster is just a stone's throw away from the historic Cockwood Harbour with its bobbing boats and a 16th century inn that was once the haunt of smugglers and pirates. Little over a mile away is the sandy Blue Flag beach at Dawlish Warren and exploration of this beautiful corner of Devon is made easy by excellent transport links. This makes Oyster a brilliant base for a holiday all year round. The cottage comes equipped with everything you would expect in a home from home, including a flatscreen TV, DVD player, washer/dryer, dishwasher, generous fridge freezer and a kitchen brimming with unique and useful objects. Oyster has toasty central heating throughout, a private courtyard and two large sofas that are ideal for those times when you simply fancy lounging around the house. There is also a farmhouse table for family dining if you don't fancy popping along to the village's two excellent pubs. Guests can use the cottage's dedicated parking space for the entire duration of their stay. This is located only 30 seconds' walk from the front door. Our home is directly opposite the cottage's parking space, so we are always on hand to offer advice to guests and iron out any niggles. We are more than happy to show you around the place on arrival and point you in the right direction of whatever holiday you have in mind. Cockwood boasts two great pubs, The Anchor on the harbour and The Ship right beside Oyster Cottage. There are four indoor swimming pools and one outdoor pool within two miles while nearby Dawlish Warren offers a range of family entertainment, from go karts and rides to mini golf and the best beach around. Cockwood sits directly on the fantastic 17-mile Exe Trail cycle path and there are also plenty of countryside and coastal walks to choose from. Cockwood is truly blessed with its transportation links. We are 15 minutes from the motorway and lie directly on both the main railway route through the South West and the main bus route between Exeter and Torquay. The nearest train station is a less than mile away at Starcross, from where you can be whisked to the middle of bustling Exeter in less than 20 minutes. You can also catch the ferry from Starcross across the estuary to up-and-coming Exmouth, with its long sandy beach, regenerated docks, watersports centre and other attractions. The short flight of stairs to the top floor is reasonably steep and unsuitable for anybody who would consider themselves infirm. We welcome dogs of all shapes and sizes - this is a great area for walking your pets whether you take them to the beach or the nearby countryside park.
