Ocean View Lodge
NEW for winter 21/22: now with central heating. Spacious, modern, beautifully furnished, light filled apartment in the Ericeira World Surf Reserve. View the wave of Ribeira d'Ilhas from 2 sunny balconies. Load up the huge fridge; cook in a well equipped kitchen; dine on a large, elegant antique table. Light the fire for a cosy night in on the comfy sofa, with huge HD TV and home cinema. Sleep in bliss on top-of-the-range mattresses, snuggled up with a feather duvet and dreamy pillows. This is my home and I love it. I have put a lot of time and effort into making it as comfortable and pleasant as possible, furnished with a high standard throughout. I am neat, organised and homely all of which are reflected in the apartment. There has been no expense spared on the important things: Living room: huge, super relaxing sofa, 55 inch HD TV with home cinema surround sound blu-ray / DVD, Apple TV, over 100 cable television channels, good speakers with iPhone connection, elegant dining table and solid chairs. Bedrooms: It was very important to me to get the best bedding possible. In my experience having a peaceful night's sleep is top! There is also an ample wardrobe with wooden hangers in both bedrooms. Kitchen: Modern appliances including a dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. Throughout: Plenty of lighting and very fast internet. Plus all the little things that make a difference - from beach towels to beach art, real plants together with real books, and comfy chairs a plenty to soak it all up. Plus, new for 2022: a dreadnought acoustic guitar. If you're a surfer, a particular bonus is being able to check the line up a few paces from your bed. The apartment is very peaceful and filled with light. But if you want to sleep in, every window has electric blinds. The friendly neighbours are often not there and when they are I can never hear them. You have the place entirely to yourselves. When I'm not there, I simply lock off my bedroom and bathroom upstairs and rent the rest of it out as a lovely 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment. I love hosting people and I may get the chance to meet you in Ericeira if your booking falls next to one of my visits. Most likely though, you will meet one of my co-hosts - Polly and Lou - who live nearby. They will provide a meet and greet and be available for any assistance you need. They speak perfect English and Portuguese ...and more! I am happy to be contacted any time too, by phone or email. When booking I will provide you with a welcome pack, detailing a few instructions to make the most of the apartment, together with my tips and recommendations for Ericeira. This is better than what you'll find on Lonely planet or trip advisor! I believe I offer the best location here in Ericeira: elevated on a small hill overlooking Praia Ribeira d'Ilhas. The area is peaceful and has a sense of community, benefitting from the best cafe / bakery in Ericeira, right next door to my building: great pastries, coffee, bread, as well as hot lunches and a mini supermarket. A more comprehensive supermarket is available 24 hours and only 5 mins walk away. You can walk down to the beach in 8 minutes to enjoy the best waves in the area as well as the very popular restaurant there. Being to the North of town puts you in the World Surf Reserve. This is certainly the more attractive side of town with a greater feeling of space and nature as well as containing quite possibly 2 of the world's greatest surf shops: Boardriders Quiksilver and 58 Surf. You are ideally positioned for easy road access into Ericeira town centre itself, as well as to the supermarkets and highway (whilst avoiding the town). A very short drive in the Northerly direction are the lovely restaurants and beaches of Ribamar and Sao Lourenco. I spent a long time looking for the perfect location and think you'll agree, it provides an enviable balance of everything. There is ample free parking right outside the building. By being out of town, you avoid the noise, hustle and parking problems of the centre of Ericeira, yet you can be in town very quickly if you desire: 3 minutes by car, 10 by bike and 30 by foot. In summer you also have the beach bus with a stop 4 mins walk away. It runs between Ribeira d'Ilhas, all across town and as far as Foz do Lizandro. Getting here is a mere 30 minutes from Lisbon Airport on the toll road (€2.90). Alternatively, there is a bus to Ericeira that leaves from Campo Grande in Lisbon (itself a 10 minute metro ride from the airport). I have an official "AL" license from the municipality to allow me to host, so you can be safe in the knowledge everything is legitimate.....and you'll be treated with first aids kits, fire extinguishers etc!
