Causeway Cottage Cartmel
Traditional 18th century stone cottage renovated to a high specification with all modern conveniences. The cottage has gas central heating and underfloor heating for extra cosiness. Ample on-street parking is available. Located in the quaint Cartmel village it is ideally situated for easy access to Cartmel Racecourse, Cartmel Medieval Priory, L'Enclume Michelin Star Restaurant and the beautiful Cartmel Valley. A short drive to Newby Bridge - gateway to the Lake District The cottage has an open-plan living room with kitchen and dining area on the ground floor a double bedroom and bathroom upstairs. There is no outside space. The Pig & Whistle next door has outside space with garden. The pub can be busy at weekends and particularly on Bank Holiday weekends. The cottage has very thick stone walls and is double glazed and noise from the pub is not a problem unless the rear windows are left open during busy times. The cottage is situated on a street accessing the village and has traffic passing by and a shop opposite which has deliveries and customers parking their cars. If bringing a pet - there is a green accross the road and great walks from the door. Please leave an additional cleaning fee of £20 for Kerry who cleans the cottage in the kitchen on departure as she steam cleans after pets and this takes her longer to do. Guests can access all parts of the cottage Although I will not be there to meet and greet you - I am on hand to respond to any queries you may have by email, text or phone. Kerry who cleans the cottage is on hand locally to help sort out any issues that you need help with. It’s not easy getting around without a car as buses are infrequent and the nearest railway station is at Cark which is a few miles away or at Grange Over Sands. Parking is by Visitor Permit (provided) along the road outside the cottage or nearby. Please check parking signs and note that the Visitor Permit excludes the Race Course carpark. Having your own transport will help you make the most of your stay if you wish to tour the Lake District. Buses do run from Cartmel to Grange over Sands and beyond but are not regular and the nearest train station is at Cark. On arrival in Cartmel however, the village has everything you will need to enjoy your stay including specialist food shops, a great local general store, lovely places to eat and beautiful local walks.
