Cameley Lodge. Rural location with private hot tub
A quintessential English country setting which is ideal for a relaxing holiday or a family get together, sleeps up to 22 persons. Close to Bath, Bristol, Wells, Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury, Longleat Safari Park plus a host of National Trust venues and gardens. Weston-Super Mare with it's pier and long sandy beach is just 23 miles away for a day at the seaside. John and Paula, your hosts, live on site and will always welcome you personally on your arrival. John and Paula have owned and run the property as a B&B/ hotel for nearly 40 years. The self catering is a new venture for Cameley Lodge but when hired on a self catering basis it is private for your groups use. They have installed a well equipped kitchen, and with the cosy lounge, private gardens and 9 en suite bedrooms it has proved very popular. The views from the property are simply stunning. We have dark skies at night and very often guests have commented on seeing shooting stars, the space station and even the occasional satellite fly overhead! We would recommend visitors have access to a car. We are situated 1 mile off the A37 and as it is a rural area there are no pavements or street lights. The building is fully compliant with fire alarm etc and is accessible. There is a large free car park on site, a ramped entrance, a level ground floor area with disabled toilet, baby changing unit and a lift to the first floor with an accessible disabled twin bedroom. We will personally greet you and give you the keys to the property and show you around. We will check that everything is Ok during the first evening and then leave you to enjoy your stay. We live on site and are contactable by phone, text or just by knocking on our door should you need anything. Cameley is mentioned in the Doomsday book - St James Church, now a redundant church is believed to be one of the oldest around. It was said to be the on the main route between Glastonbury and Bath and used as a stop over - indeed behind the church are fish ponds that were used to feed the travellers. Once the A37 and cars became popular the village became part of the Parish of Cameley and Temple Cloud - Temple Cloud being built on the "new road". Along further is the Parish of Hinton Blewitt another quaint village with a great village pub called The Ring O Bells - worth a stroll one evening. Excellent parking and great walks around the surrounding countryside. Ideal for cycling holidays. The main bus route to Bristol and Wells run every 30 minutes from Temple Cloud village ( 1 mile away)
