We are in a quiet upland village 6 miles from historic Caernarfon, ideal for those seeking quiet countryside pursuits. Dog friendly. We do not have cots or high chairs for infants. Canolfan Y Fron is the community hub of our village. It offers an opportunity to experience life in a rural upland Snowdonia village, tranquil except for the birdsong. As the centre of the village there are always many things occurring, as we say. The busy cafe and shop provide opportunities to meet the locals and learn more about the are and its fascinating history. As a community owned and run facility, we are happy to answer any questions you may have and we know all of the best things to see and do across all of North Wales. Climbing Mount Snowdon, taking one of our 3 heritage steam railway trips, or engaging in more adventerous activities, such as the zip wire and bounce below experiences at ZIPWORLD or the boating adventures at Ribride are all closeby. Our village is Y Fron, population 300. It was founded by slate quarry workers. The surrounding countryside is open access Common Land, upland heath, where sheep and cattle roam free. Wonderful country walks in every direction. We are half an hour by car from mainline train services from Bangor (Gwynedd). Liverpool and Manchester airports are 2 hours away. The village has good bus service from Caernarfon, 6 miles away, from Monday to Saturday. Taxis from Caernarfon cost about £15. We offer free off-road parking and have 4 electric car charging point for use at cost.
