Disley is a village on the edge of the Peak District, a 20-minute drive to Buxton. The village has a number of wine bars pubs and restaurants. Also a 45-minute drive into the center of Manchester. There is a train station in Disley and a very good bus service connecting with Manchester and Buxton. To make it quite clear I have two double bedrooms each has a double bed, wardrobe and drawer space. The rooms are each £45 per night for two people sharing each room. 2 rooms £45 x 2 = £90 MY house is a modern split level house which has been, my and my family's home for thirty years. I have two double bedrooms that I let, each has a double bed. I also have a travel cot. I have two double bedrooms each has a double bed in it. Two guests per room or a party of four. I also provide a hair dryer, 2 towels, soap, shampoo/conditioner and shower/bath wash. Wardrobe and drawer space available. There are also tea and coffee making facilities in both rooms. Along with new wall mounted 32" Televisions, to make you stay as comfortable as possible. Information booklets of local walks around The Peaks, Manchester and surrounding area . I do work, so I am often in and out, I may not always be available..but I will make sure that you are happy with your surroundings. Any thing at all, just ask me! A quiet neighborhood, close to open country side. The "Rams Head" inn c.1650 at the centre of the village was formerly a lodge belonging to the Lyme Park estate. It became a main coaching stop on the Manchester to London route. The Rams head is now a restaurant and pub. Lyme Park is not located in the civil parish of Disley, but in the civil parish of Lyme Handley. However, it is sufficiently close to be associated with Disley. The hall was used by the BBC as a setting in its adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Lyme Hall has parts of it which are from sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth century. It belonged to the Legh family for over 600 years!!!!!! It was transformed by a venetian architect called Leoni into an Italianate palace. In 1946 it was given to the National Trust who now own it but it is also funded by Stockport Borough Council. In fact we stopped in front of the Hall just for a few minutes with Laura (Hayward68) when she came to visit last year. That was May though and it hadnt been snowing then!!!!! There are various opening times for the park and the hall. It is better to check before you go for times. At the moment the hall is undergoing some restoration. Car Park Charge is: £3.50 (but refundable if you purchase an Adult House and Garden Ticket). House and Garden Ticket: £5.50 House only Ticket: £4.00 Garden only Ticket: £2.50 Family Ticket: £12.00 Disley is a village in Cheshire, six miles south east of Stockport and about 10 miles north of Buxton a Spa town in Derbyshire. Disley was also the village where David Dickinson of BBC's Bargain Hunt... was born.
