A local joke claims that two guys died and went to heaven. They looked around, then looked at each other and said: Well, there’s no place like Chalkidiki! If you decide to visit Northern Greece, you will not regret it! The beautiful city of Thessaloniki with its great history and the magnificent byzantine churches, the world famous antiquities of Vergina and Dion, Mount Olympus, the mountain of the twelve gods of ancient greek mythology, the “Routes of wine” and natural surroundings (traditional villages, lakes, rivers, forests) of unforgettable beauty await you. But you will truly regret not visiting Chalkidiki! We built them in 2005, entirely with natural materials, local stone and wood, looking to create a place to escape from the city, recharge our batteries and empty our busy minds. Trying to maintain natural environment as untouched as possible and make the indoors living as simple and natural as the outdoors. If you are searching for a place to find peace, to fill your heart with the serenity of the sea lying in front of you and the vividness of the pine-forest breathing in the back, this is the ideal place for you. Whether you are a couple, a family or a group of friends, be our guests and fall in love (or fall in love again with your partner!) under the moonlight, find the relaxing and quality time escape you so much need with your family (children will love the place!) or find your perfect base to visit all the nearby, crystal clear water beaches. Let the song of the cicadas lull you to sleep, enjoy the magnificent view of Diaporos island and of the “Holy Mountain” (Athos) in the back, pour a glass of the wonderful northern Greece’s wines and relax under the stars. Dine in one of the many traditional taverns and restaurants of the area, taste the fresh fish, the local meat and drink tsipouro! Taste the local products (honey, olives, olive oil, fresh fruits and vegetables and definitely the famous “revani” with “dodurma” icecream of Nikiti!). Make small or daily excursions, discover hidden beaches or visit beautiful little villages and wander around in their alleys. If you are a “party animal”, have a great time drinking cocktails at one of the many beach bars in close distance and discover the night life of the area. If you are an adventurer, choose water sports, scuba diving or riding a horse. Hike or ride your mountain bike in the pine-forest and follow the routes of Itamos’ ridge. And don’t miss renting a small boat (no permit needed) to visit the islands of Diaporos and Agios Isidoros, and dive into the magnificent Blue Waters. Last but not least, even if you do not practice religion, it may be a unique experience for you to spend a few days in the nearby Agion Oros (Athos, the “Holy Mountain”), Chalkidiki’s third “leg”. A peninsula consisting entirely of greek-orthodox male monasteries (area unfortunately forbidden for women), where you will encounter a simple and meaningful way of living within the virgin nature and experience tranquility and devoutness. If you feel that this is the right home for you, we will be more than happy to share with you more information about the activities and places we love in the area. Depending on how many you are, you may either book both (A and B) houses (together they can host up to 8 persons) or separately any one of them (4 persons each). Each of them consists of one bedroom with a double bed, one open, high-ceiling attic bedroom with two single beds (that we can easily join together as a double bed) , a large and comfortable living-room with a fireplace, connecting to a small, fully equipped kitchen, one bathroom with shower, and a beautiful outdoors veranda. Of course (shared among both houses) you are welcome to discover your favorite spot in the whole estate and set α chair and table under the shadow of a tree, use the outdoors shower, take a nap in our hammock and, depending on the time of the season, taste our sweet red grapes or the wild “strawberry tree” fruits! Please let us know about any specific needs or questions you may have. We look forward to becoming your hosts and making your stay at our home a vacation to remember! You will need a car or motorcycle (you can easily rent at Nikiti or anywhere else) to be able to access beaches, restaurants, bars, supermarkets etc. There is a huge space around the house where you are free to park. If you don't have a private means of transportation, you will face some difficulties, since there is no public bus in the area ot taxies just passing by. However, you can reach Nikiti or Ormos Panagias by KTEL buses from Thessaloniki and make arrangements with a taxi in Nikiti to transport and move you around when you want to. Our downhill beach is a few minutes walk (but uphill on the way back!) and you can easily and safely access it on foot. You can also find food and other basic supplies at the nearby camping Rea (approximately 15 min on foot). If you decide to walk or ride a bicycle for further distances on the main road, we are afraid it might not be a pleasant and safe experience, since there is no proper space for this and, even though drivers are now more used to the idea of people or cyclists on the road, they often drive fast... It is not the jungle, but you will be in the nature. So if you have severe allergies (to wasp bites etc.), you should of course have proper medication with you, and a plan for how to reach medical help if (God forbid!) necessary. There are pharmacy stores and doctors with different medical specialties at Nikiti, pharmacy stores and a public Health Center at Agios Nikolaos and a public hospital at Poligyros.
