Brand new guest wing, added to one of the first homes in the Okauia area. Located in the rural outskirts of Matamata/Hobbiton, yet only 5 minutes to the town centre. Guests can enjoy complete privacy and quietness as the guest wing is self contained, has it's own access and is independent to the rest of the house. Nothing has been spared in terms of comfort and luxury, whilst at the same time staying in keeping with the classic style and beauty of the original home. The guest suite is North facing with large windows. Panoramic views of thoroughbred farmland and the Kaimai Mountain range surround. There are decks on both the East and West sides of the guest suite, where guests can sit and absorb the beauty and tranquility of the outdoors. Inside the room has been fitted with quality fixtures - a comfortable superking size bed and a luxurious double shower and a convenient modern kitchenette area. In winter it is beautifully sunny and warm. Perfect for a romantic treat or a get-away! Okauia House is set on just under an acre block of lawns and garden. Guests are welcome to wander around. The guest room has basic limited cooking facilities. There is a guest Weber BBQ just outside the room. There are guest laundry facilities in the room adjacent to the guest room. Guest parking is close to the room with a well lit walkway. Your friendly hosts live on the property and are happy to chat and share local knowledge. If they are away from the property, they are available by phone, text, email or the Airbnb app to answer any questions or concerns. Matamata is backed by strong rural equine and dairy industry. In more recent years it has been put on the map by Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, which has seen international tourists flocking from all corners of the globe. Okauia House is set close to the base of the Kaimai Mountain range, just a short drive to the amazing 153m high Wairere Falls. The Matamata Golf Course is next door, and the Opal Hot Springs next door to that where there is the opportunity to soak or swim in the naturally heated waters. The new Hauraki Rail trail passes through, less than 2km away, so for the keen cyclists, this is a perfect retreat from a hard days biking. A car is recommended, as this is a rural property. However it is still only a 5 minute drive to the main street of Matamata, to restaurants, cafes, bars, supermarkets, the Matamata i-Site and shops. There is a small superette at the Opal Hot Springs which is less than a kilometre down the road.
