The Bothy, part of our 17th century Welsh farmhouse, offers a base to explore Monmouthshire & the Brecon Beacons. It has a spacious bedroom with a king size bed and we can provide a single bed if needed. Downstairs there’s a large living room with a kitchen at one end. We provide ingredients for the first few breakfasts to prepare yourselves with a freshly baked loaf of bread. There is a pub serving good within walking distance and a log fire for nights in - ideal for a weekend in the country. Our lovely cottage, set in a non working farm courtyard provides a place to relax and a base to explore beautiful Wales. The Bothy has a spacious sitting room with a log burning stove and one large, sunny bedroom with a king size bed and an extra single bed on request. We provide down duvets and pillows, and quality cotton sheets. The cottage is currently (March 2022) being completely gutted & upgraded. The basic kitchenette in the pictures is being upgraded to a full kitchen with hob, oven and fridge-freezer. The bathroom will have a new layout with a large walk-in shower. We can provide a cot and all baby paraphernalia if needed (high chair, toys etc) We will provide everything you need for a delicious breakfast to prepare yourselves with a freshly a fresh baked loaf of bread when you arrive. Downstairs there is a TV/DVD (old fashioned, I know!) but we do have fast broadband. We provide lots of dvds for you - check out those old favs! A large basket of logs is included, any additional are £5 per basket. Iron and ironing board provided. A third person costs £15 a night but a baby is free. A well-behaved dog is accepted but we would ask if it can be encouraged not to go upstairs and kept off the furniture . We have dog bowls and old towels if you need them - just let me know what you might need. Guest have their own access through a porch to the cottage. Parking is in the yard next to the cottage. We welcome guests to explore our land and woods and also to sit in and enjoy our garden with the fabulous views when the weather is good. We love to give our guests a weekend that leaves them rested and rejuvenated. We live in the main house opposite if you need anything. We like to leave you in peace but also love imparting some local knowledge if required! We have stunning views from the garden and drive to the cottage over the Monmouthshire countryside - spectacular in every season. We are between Usk and Raglan, and near to Monmouth and Abergavenny. There are a number of excellent pubs and restaurants nearby. The Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains and Wye Valley are all within a short drive and there are many beautiful ruins of castles and abbeys. There are Numerous activities and things to do and see : kayaking on the Wye, Cycling in the Forest of Dean, sailing at LLandegfedd reservoir or simply shopping in the beautiful nearby market towns - we have plenty of leaflets on what to do in the cottage and are delighted to help with suggestions. If not, simply relax in our garden and walk or have a picnic in our fields or wood. We would recommend having a car but we are walking distance from a bus route between Newport and Monmouth too. The very popular Hall Inn pub with good traditional food is within walking distance and a number of good pubs and restaurants are within easy reach in Usk and Raglan, both only 2 miles drive away.
