Centrally located, Cooya is a rural beach side suburb located 20 mins north of Port Douglas. 5 minutes north is the historic sugar town of Mossman & 30 mins. takes you to the Daintree River. Once you have booked, we will email you our what to do and see guide. The studio apartment has recently been completed & is situated to the rear of the property. It has its own shower, toilet and outside patio. Having its' own entrance & courtyard garden provides good privacy. The decor is bright and modern, with everything you need to make your stay pleasant and restful. The bed is topped with memory foam & superior linen for a good night's sleep. Feather and foam pillows are supplied. A foam mattress is available for children to use. The kitchenette is generally NOT available to be use (due to past mess left by guests) - if you want to cook / use the kitchenette - please ask about this before booking. A microwave and basic kitchen utensils are provided, primarily for snacks or reheating takeaway meals. We don’t advertise the kitchen as our intention is to avoid clean-up for short term stays (less than a week). Unless you have special dietary needs, most short term guests end up eating out or getting takeaway. There are lots of reasonably priced restaurants in Mossman (5 minutes drive away) - see the "neighbourhood" section below for details. Please ask if you want to use the kitchen for your stay and we will provide additional kitchen utensils e.g. Pots & pans. Own Fridge / Freezer. Wardrobe / hanging space. We enjoy company but if you prefer privacy, that’s fine. Cooya is a small rural housing development on its own beach. The beach park at the end of the street, has an electric BBQ and is a great place for a picnic. There is also a kid’s playground. The nearest town (Mossman) is 5 minutes drive away. It is a rural country town which boasts several great places to eat or get takeaway. There are several Coffee shops, Pubs, a Bowls Club, as well as Thai & Chinese etc. Meal prices in Mossman are budget / family & much cheaper than the "tourist" prices in Port Douglas. Mossman has a Woolworth's supermarket that also has a great range of pre-prepared meals to choose from. Unless you have special dietary needs most guests end up eating out or getting takeaway. A relaxing early morning walk along the beach to watch the sunrise is a great way to start a busy day. There are bus transfers available from the Airport but as there is practically no public transport in the Port Douglas area - most people go for Car Hire. I recommend and use East Coast Car Rentals. They are cheaper than the other "big name" companies like Budget or Eurocar but still offer a quality car - from a reputable "chain" of companies. After that there are plenty of small Cairns only companies but they worry me. Search for Cairns Car Rental to see the range of companies. Tip buy your "car insurance" from an insurance company, not from the car hire company. Just need to do a bit of Internet searching.
