In the heart of 'Hadrian's Wall Country' this attractive Four Star rated, listed stone built cottage offers charming holiday accommodation to an excellent standard. Melkridge is a friendly hamlet &spectacular countryside. We have a ground floor double bedroom and ensuite shower room. We are close to Vindalanda ,Housesteads etc. the cottage is set in a courtyard opposite The Coach House and next to my house. Pets very welcome. Melkridge is a friendly hamlet, surrounded by spectacular countryside. We have added a ground floor double bedroom and shower room so now accept 6 guests . Old Brewery Cottage was converted from a former Barn/ Diary which formed part of the brewery built in the 1800s it is grade II listed. A two bedroom Grade II listed stone built cottage, nestled behind the owners' residence, with independent access to maximise privacy. It is well equipped and tastefully furnished throughout. This is the heart of 'Hadrians Wall Country', a area with a rich heritage to explore - Vindolanda and Housesteads Roman Fort Museum are historic visitor attractions close by. The popular market town of Hexham, dominated by its majestic abbey, boasts many amenities including a theatre/cinema, leisure centre and splendid golf course less that 15 miles east. Carlisle is approximately 23 miles west, making this an ideal base for those wishing to explore the delights of West Northumberland with easy access to the stunning beauty of the Lake District National Park and the Scottish border region. If you wish to leave your car at home we have a very good bus service taking you to Carlisle and Newcastle with the bus stop only 100 metres away from the cottage. There is also an excellent bus service along Hadrian's Wall AD122 which runs from easter to October A welcome pack is provided including wine, a bowl of fresh fruit, freshly laid eggs and home made scones! Guests have their own private gravel garden area with seating and barbeque , you are welcome to use my garden which has several seating areas to relax in, there is a large pond so small children should be supervised at all times. We welcome pet's. We like to meet and greet are guests on arrival where ever possible and are happy to help if needed . We live next door to the cottage so are easy to contact if you require any help There are lots of things to do and see near here like Talkin Tarn country park at Brampton, Alston with its steam railway, Kielder Water and forest , Wallington Hall and gardens, Chipchase Castle and Gardens, Hadrian's Wall and Vindalanda and many more! The new Sill Visitor centre is now open and the Alston Steam Railway has been extended. There is a good bus service (685) stops approx. 100meters from us which runs From Carlisle to Newcastle, you can catch the train from Haltwhistle Station which also runs from Carlisle to Newcastle and back, this now runs twice an hour .There is a seasonal bus service AD 122 (easter to October) which runs along the old military road along side Hadrian's Wall .We are on the 68 & 72 cycle routes so if you want to bring your bikes we can provide a shed to put them in. There is off road parking for up to 3 cars at the cottage . There is a cot and high chair available . All towels and bed linen are provided. We can provide folding occasional beds to make sleeping arrangements more flexible but the capacity is 6 guests. Pet's welcome. The cottage is opposite Old brewery Coach house also listed on airbnb.
