A spectacular location to enjoy easing of restrictions, Carissima is situated in a great position in the village of Rhossili, the jewel in the crown of the Gower. 5 double bedrooms (2 on ground floor), 360 degree spectacular views, even a log fire and Aga. 5 mins. walk to a perfect sandy beach, village pub and bistro, with spectacular hiking and cycling from the doorstep. What’s not to love? Rhossili is a gorgeous village at the tip of the Gower Peninsula (itself Number 1 in the New York Times places to visit 2021!) which boasts a phenomenal sandy surf beach (regularly listed as one of the UK's top beaches and which has also featured in Conde Nast's World's top 10 ), a pub, award winning bistro, coffee shops and an art gallery. There is a National Trust shop and other seasonal shops and there are plans to have a tea room in the National Trust shop in 2021, to make the best of the spectacular sunflowers and lavender that grow on the headland in the summer. Carissima has sea views from the kitchen, lounge and three of its five double bedrooms. The remaining two double bedrooms look onto The Rhossili Downs which is a large rugged grassland common leading onto the cliffs overlooking Rhossili and Llangennith beaches. The coast path runs almost alongside the property and gives access to miles of spectacular hiking and cycling. The house itself has wooden flooring downstairs and carpets upstairs. On the ground floor there are two double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large kitchen (with Aga cooker) overlooking the sea, dining area, a sitting/TV room (with log fire and sea / village views) . The remaining three double bedrooms are on the upper floor and include the Master suite with stunning sea/beach views and en-suite bathroom. The large kitchen diner has an Aga ( which is extremely easy to use) so you can live the country kitchen dream, and the views from the sink mean people will be fighting over who does the washing up. There is a large dining table which can seat 10. The kitchen diner leads onto a separate cosy lounge with large tv and a sky box (which has all the usual channels and the box sets and cinema package too). There is a separate utility room which hosts the washing machine and a large fridge freezer and which leads onto the shower room and wc. The location of Carissima in Rhossili village means that once you get there, you can leave the car (or cars - there is parking for several) and not touch it during your stay. The house is ideally situated to walk down to the beach (which you can see from the house), up to the Rhossili Downs, or to the iconic Worm's Head rocky headland, all of which can be combined with a stop-off at the pub. You can even walk along the 3 1/2 miles of golden sand to the neighbouring village, have a pub lunch, and walk back for sundowners in Rhossili. What better way to end the evening watching the most amazing sunsets over a glass or two of wine from inside (or, even better, sat outside) of Carissima? Elizabeth and I spend the majority of our time in Devon and Cornwall due to work commitments. We are experienced hosts and find that we are able to support our guests remotely so that they can enjoy their stay with no interference (Assuming that we are informed if there are any issues). However, we have a network of friends and family locally who are able to attend on the rare occasions that this is required. Rhossili is considered to be the jewel in the Gower coast crown (the Gower itself is a beautiful area, being Britain's first protected Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Number 1 in the New York Times places to visit 2021!). The beach at Rhossili has frequently been awarded a spot in "World's Top 10 Beaches" awards (including Conde Naste) as there is 3.5 miles of gently shelving soft sand backed by sand dunes, with water that is safe enough for bathing yet with some of the best surf in the U.K. It is dog friendly all year round (as the tide washes most of the beach daily). We love keeping the windows open at night to hear the waves, and the sunset over Rhossili has consistently been voted one of the best in the UK. The city of Swansea is only 35 minutes drive away, but there is little reason to leave the Gower as there are several pubs and restaurants (including a Michelin restaurant at Oxwich) as well as plenty of shops for supplies. There are also numerous other beaches to explore, almost all within walking distance, depending on how energetic you are feeling. South Wales boasts many other spectacular sights, ranging from several ancient castles to the remote splendour of the Brecon Beacons. Hi Most guests come by car. Rhossili is approximately 35 mins drive from the M4 (junction 47). Carissima has parking for several cars. There is a bus service from the main line train station in Swansea to Rhossili, although be prepared for a fairly long (but scenic) trip as the bus makes several stops on The Gower. There are several taxi firms in Swansea but we usually use “Mike’s Taxis” as they are Gower based.
