Romantic characterful stone cottage in lovely Peak District village. Two bedrooms, sleeps four in luxury. Ideal for one or two couples, families with children, and dogs. Perfect for walkers, bikers and anyone who wants to visit the Derbyshire Dales. Family shower room, romantic bath in main bedroom and en-suite shower room in twin bedroom. Centrally heated, large wood burner, beautifully refurbished with quirky interior design. Well equipped kitchen and utility. Outside terrace sitting area. The interior design sets this cottage apart. Colours and lighting have been chosen to give an intimate cottage atmosphere, and the wood burner creates a very cosy feel for cooler evenings. The quirky interior design is one of the main features that guests choose this cottage for. For evenings-in there is a sound system and TV with DVD player, and several hundred DVDs! Access to the cottage is via a digital keypad lock, so you can arrive at a time to suit you. We will be available by phone, and are happy for you to call us either before your trip or after you have arrived if you need any explanations or help. We live in Sheffield and if necessary can get to you within one hour (but its rarely necessary!) Taddington village is high up in the White Peak, with endless walks through lanes originally built to bring livestock off the surrounding hills to water. It is surrounded by farms and there are more farmers than visitors in the local pub 400 yards away. Other villages close by are equally charming and there is good pub food to be had and some nice restaurants. There is great walking in the limestone dales surrounding Taddington. Cheedale is the closest and you can walk through the river on stepping stones, or bike the Monsal Trail along the old railway line through Miller's Dale. Buxton, Bakewell and Chatsworth House are within easy driving distance and Edale and Dovedale are both half an hour away with spectacular walking. The A6 from Buxton to Bakewell runs half a mile away, with good bus services to either town through the village (bus stop 50 yds from the cottage) for anyone wanting to use public transport.
