Our beautiful William Penn Wing comes with a lounge/diner and two large rooms. The dining area does not have a kitchen but does include a fridge freezer, toaster, kettle, microwave, cutlery, crockery and seating. Upstairs you will find the William Penn Suite, a very large room with a sofa area and king sized four poster bed with en suite. Wickham Manor is a stunning 16th Century house which some may recognise from the film Mr Holmes and The Crown Season 3 (Episode 10). The house is surrounded by 720 acres of National Trust farmland and a 30 acre family run vineyard. Tastings can also be organised throughout your stay and the wines can be purchased on site. You will have a private entrance, parking and garden area which will be separate from any other guests. We recommend bringing your own garden seating along with a disposable BBQ (our local food shops also sell them). The views from the garden over the sea and countryside are breathtaking! I live on site but if I am unavailable there is usually another member of the family on site. However, social distancing will take place. Wickham Manor is in a very peaceful location, we have just two neighbours in the farm cottages and the rest is surrounding farmland. There is also a Cellar Door and Vineyard on site (Charles Palmer Vineyards) where you can purchase wine by the glass or bottle. Rye is just 4 miles away, a beautiful town with lots of lovely shops and restaurants. The local pubs are approximately 1-2 miles away, many guests have walked there on their stay but others prefer to travel by car. We are located right next to the 1066 footpath so if you enjoy walking, you will be spoilt for choice. Just a short walk across a few sheep fields and you get the most breathtaking views overlooking Winchelsea beach and the marshland. Although we don't offer meals, we can recommend lots of lovely local places to eat! Vineyard talks and tastings are available on request. A welcome pack including, 1 pint of full fat milk , tea, coffee, sugar, bread, butter, jam, marmalade, small boxes of cereals, tea towel, tray, bin bag, bottled water, bottle opener, wine glasses and washing up liquid will be added to your diner.
