Quay Courtyard, Charlestown, a truly unique harbour holiday location in a sheltered bay. Charlestown is full of charm and character. A small coastal village where tall ships are moored alongside 19th century colour washed Georgian cottages. Once a busy bustling port, now the sounds of the sea and the murmur of conversation from the nearby cafes, pubs, restaurants and galleries fill the inner harbour with a gentle whisper. Take a few steps away from the harbour wall and you are in Quay Courtyard. A newly converted holiday home tucked away, yet still at the centre of harbour life. Light pours into the building via the oak framed double glazed corner window, a place to relax and unwind or enjoy a leisurely breakfast before a busy day. A walk in the quiet of your own private Mediterranean style garden will help you slow down enough to sit a while on the patio, where the palm tree offers a little shade from the morning sun. Followed by an hour or two in the conservatory watching the lemons grow... here its peaceful and calm...there’s no need to rush into the days main event. You are on holiday, living the dream. Take your time. Perhaps you plan to visit The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, or the fishing villages of Fowey and Mevagissy, all easily reached in 15 minutes, by car. Or maybe you would rather stroll down to the south coast path, east to Carlyon Bay or west to Porthpean. Both walks provide spectacular views of the bay. There’s always plenty to do here in the village, stay a while, visit the eccentric Shipwreck and Heritage Centre, the home of the most amazing collection of artefacts and objects, all rescued from wrecks near and far.Or visit The Historic Port and climb aboard a square rig sail ship. A unique experience. And if you are lucky, there may be filming in the harbour, recently Frontier for Netflix, before that Poldark, they keep coming back; maybe it’s the light, the character, or the atmosphere. Every day the beach and harbour will draw you to gaze out over the bay, where the water is clear, and small boats sail to the mussel beds and back for tea. At the cottage there’s a well equipped kitchen so you can stay in, cook for yourself and watch TV or listen to your own music collection on the Bose Sound system. Simple, comfortable and just like home. Or pop out to a restaurant; take your pick, The Longstore, Lovedays, The Pier House, Wreckers, The Boat House, or The Rashleigh. One is bound to become a favourite. Then snuggle down to sleep in the quiet of the Quay Courtyard cottage. Courtyard, garden, patio and conservatory Always nearby if needed for information or assistance Charlestown is a World Heritage site, with a grade 2* harbour within a conservation area. There are regular buses to Mevagissy and Fowey. A car is needed to visit The Eden Project which is just a couple of miles away. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are also very near. The property is on a private road with free parking . The East of the harbour consists of pastel painted cottages typical of Cornwall and is in the sun after 11 am right through to sundown. This is the side where Quay Courtyard is situated.
