Accommodation The ground floor comprises of a modern, open dining room with TV, sofa and fabulous views, this leads to a fully equipped kitchen area and following that, there is a door out into the private south facing courtyard garden which has BBQ, seating and laundry facilities. There is WiFi plus central heating throughout and a shower room (with wc, hand basin and shower) on the ground floor before you go up to the next level. The first floor boasts a beautiful living room with panoramic harbour views, a comfortable corner sofa and HD TV with DVD/Blu-Ray player, streaming and freeview and the twin bedroom with 2 single beds. The second floor is where the Master bedroom with super king size bed, sofa and spectacular sea views is located, alongside the main bathroom with bath and shower facilities. The attic room is a double room with some stunning views. Please note however that there is some restricted head room on this floor and the stairs up to this room is not suitied to those with impaired mobility as they are very steep and narrow. * Off street parking is available. * Stairs - The two sets of stairs are in a half turn spiral between the levels. The steps are large / deep at one end given the spiral. Stairs are painted (wooden) so no carpet for extra grip but equally nothing to trip on. There are fitted wooden oars as vertical handles on each stair. The stairs up to attic room in particular are very steep and narrow and we do not recommend for anyone with impaired mobility. Location St Monans is a small seaside village in the East Neuk of Fife. Located just over 12 miles south of St Andrews, St Monans is the smallest of the East Neuk fishing ports. Here you’ll find an attractive village with many charming 17th and 18th century pantiled houses around the harbour. Fishing and salt production were once the main industries here, and the old salt-pans can still be seen, along with a reconstructed stone windmill that was used to pump sea water up to them. Almost on the foreshore, there is a beautiful little church, dating from the 12th century built by David II in gratitude for having survived a shipwreck on the coast nearby. It was restored in the early 19th century and now serves as the local parish church. It has featured in several recent movies such as ‘The Railway Man’ starring Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman, and Whiskey Galore’ starring Eddie Izzard. The remains of Newark Castle, with its circular beehive dovecot are further along the coastal path to the west of the village. St Monans lies directly on the Fife Coastal Path, so is very popular with walkers, along with some of Scotland's finest and cleanest sandy beaches, so don't forget to bring your bucket and spade! This is a fascinating, picturesque, 'different' part of Scotland that everyone should see. The coast is backed by an attractive agricultural countryside that boosts very many excellent restaurants serving local produce and a wealth of great golf courses. Boat trips can be taken to see the seabird colonies on the islands in the Forth. Visit Kellie Castle, just outside Anstruther, and while there, visit the cheese factory where you can see the cheese-making process and perhaps take home some of the produce. The conservation village of Falkland, with the fairytale palace so beloved of Mary, Queen of Scots at its centre, is also well worth a visit. Falkland is one of the main locations for the TV Series ‘Outlander’. St Andrews and Crail Harbour are surely a 'must visit’, as perhaps is the Secret Bunker which was meant to be the Government's headquarters in Scotland in case of nuclear war. It is worth taking the time to explore some of neighbouring Perthshire, Loch Lomond, The Trossachs and Royal Deeside, which are all within an easy day's drive. Harbour Heights is a delightful and cosy coastal townhouse in peaceful St Monans, which offers a calming retreat from city life that cannot be beaten. Set over 4 floors, with fantastic panoramic views over the harbour and out to sea, this holiday home is a perfect retreat to get away from it all. An ideal base location to explore the rest of Central Scotland, the Fife coast, and cities such as Dundee and Edinburgh (less than 60 minutes by car). The ground floor comprises of a modern, fully equipped kitchen leading out into the private, south facing courtyard garden with BBQ, seating and laundry areas. A WC with shower, and a separate dining room with a family-sized table, sofa, TV with Freeview, DVD player and fantastic sea views. There is WiFi and central heating throughout. The first floor boasts a beautiful living room with panoramic harbour views, a comfortable corner sofa and HD TV with DVD/Blu-Ray player, streaming and Freeview and the twin bedroom with 2 single beds. The Master bedroom with super king size bed, sofa and spectacular sea views is located on the second floor, alongside the main bathroom with bath and shower facilities. The double room is in the attic and continues the panoramic views. There is some restricted headroom on this floor. * Please note that the stairs in this property are steep and narrow, in particular the stairs up to the attic room which are extremely steep and narrow and we do not recommend for anyone with impaired mobility issues. Guests can access the whole house. We hope you have a lovely stay, however if you've any issues then please do let us know. There is free on site parking available at the property , the nearest train station is 17 miles away and Edinburgh Airport is 45 miles away. We would advise that you bring your own transport so you make the most of exploring the costal villages of the East Neuk of Fife and Scotland.
