This little house is an ideal base for anyone wishing to combine a trip to an authentic rural setting with easy access to Rome by train, the monastery of Montecassino, a drive to Naples, Vesuvius, Herculaneum and the awesome Amalfi Coast. The beach is approximately a 60 minute drive. There is a south-facing balcony running the length of the house - lovely for breakfast or evening meals. Lunch is more comfortably eaten in the shade of the old pine tree at the front of the house. This house has 2 parts - the top (which is easily accessed from the driveway) is the liveable part and has a one story balcony. Then there is the bottom of the house (currently unused) which is accessed from the driveway (a walk down beside the house) where there is a whimsical fountain and a small cultivated patch with herbs, lettuce and tomatoes. There is one bedroom, one bathroom and an open-plan kitchen/living/dining area (with a sofa bed). This is a house with quite a bit of private land around it and a small cultivated veg garden - please help yourself and use the plum tomatoes to make your own fresh "sugo" (pasta sauce). In the full height of summer, it's very nice to eat outside the front of the house under the shade of an old pine tree - there is a BBQ here too. There is a south facing balcony running the full length of the house where guests will be able to enjoy breakfast, sun-bathing, the setting sun, a cocktail or 2 and the view. One end of the balcony benefits from a sail shade. There are 2 sun-loungers on the balcony too. We have 2 small tables and 4 chairs which we move from balcony to kitchen to outside the house for meals - basically wherever is the most comfortable place to eat. If you are here, we won't be, but we do have help from a woman in the village who can help you with any enquiries - her name is Anita and she will be in touch after you arrive - if you need her number, I can send it to you through Airbnb messages. I will usually email by return. This is a genuine working village in Southern Italy where you will find people going about their day to day business, which is for the most part agricultural. You will find lovely fresh food, local wine and great coffee and gelato in the nearby town of Cassino! Enjoy ... You must have a car and a sat-nav device. There is a driveway here at the house, with lockable gates. The house is south of Rome and north of Naples. The closest airport is Napoli International - it's about an hours drive away. The closest Rome airport is Ciampino - situated south of Rome and is about and hour and half's drive away. You must have a car and a sat-nav system to come here. This is not a touristy area, so English is not spoken very often - this is real, rural Italy and it's a fantastic place to unwind.
