This 110-year old Queenslander home is filled with restored charm and quirky character at every turn. Your mornings can start with a cup of coffee on the spacious and enclosed timber verandahs that frame the house, making it a bright and breezy place to relax and unwind. On those really hot days, open up the verandah doors and truly experience indoor-outdoor living at its best. When you’re not out exploring the bustling bars and restaurants of Cairns, whip up a homemade meal in the simple, functional kitchen furnished with vintage timber cabinets and appliances including an excellent oven, microwave, dishwasher and a fridge. Then gather around the four-person table in the dining room or enjoy your meal al fresco on the wrap-around verandah or on the lounges in the back patio overlooking the garden. The first bedroom can be found at the front of the house and offers direct access to the front deck. Wake up to the warm breeze in a stunning timber double bed and enjoy air conditioning, a ceiling fan and an external timber wardrobe that is built of stunning solid timber and has a mirror. The second bedroom also offers a plush, four-poster double bed, air conditioning, a ceiling fan and beautiful polished wooden floors. You’ll find the laundry area—equipped with a washing machine, dryer and clothing lines—beneath the house; while a simple yet functional bathroom is located inside and offers a shower over a bathtub and a vanity with a large mirror; as well as a separate powder room. Come evening, unwind on the vintage-style couch in the lounge room and pop on Netflix on the wall-mounted, flat-screen TV. Additions include secure parking for one car, air conditioning in the living areas and bedrooms, unlimited Wi-Fi and access to Apple TV. Do as the locals do and shop for fresh fruit and organic vegetables from Friday to Sunday at Rusty’s Market—a three-minute drive away—join one of the many free morning exercise classes along the Esplanade, take a refreshing dip in the clear lagoon waters, or discover the beauty of Cairns Botanical Gardens. Come evening, head back to the Esplanade to find the humming Night Markets—open every night and serving up an array of locally-made gifts, clothing, jewellery and of course food—before strolling along the marina for sunset and savouring fresh seafood at the waterfront Prawn Star restaurant. For convenience, you can find the DFO and Westcourt Shopping Centre just five minutes’ drive away. Parking: There is a free parking spot available in the driveway for one car. There is also free street parking. Airport: Approximately 11 mins by car. Please keep in mind that there is no public transport to the Airport. There is an Uber or a taxi available that can drop you off or pick you up at the door from the Airport. Public Transport: The house is only a stone's throw from the railway station and the buses (650 metres). The Esplanade and the Reef Terminal are only 5 blocks away, a short early morning walk if you are going to catch a ferry. Please read and respect the house rules.
