Just 2 hours from Melbourne, on 65 acres in the sprawling Strathbogie Ranges, Maggies Lane Barn House is a romantic, one bedroom couples escape.  Unwind in our thoughtfully designed, off-grid luxury retreat. The area is teeming with Australian wildlife, flowing creeks, native birds, bush and rocky outcrops. Warm up by the wood fire, enjoy the views and the beautifully appointed interiors. The Barn House is totally off-grid but with all the comforts of home.  The beautifully appointed and architecturally designed retreat features interiors by award winning interior designer Carole Whiting. A loft space is available for yoga, meditation or whatever creative pursuit you can dream of. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, cooktop, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, toaster and kettle. There is a bathroom with a walk in shower, a separate powder room and a washing machine should you need.   We offer a fabulous breakfast basket for your first morning including fresh and preserved produce from our orchard and garden. Because we are so secluded we recommend bringing food and drinks to make sure you can enjoy the seclusion with everything you need for a good time. If you happen to need anything else there are farmers markets and shops in the surrounding areas.  Sit by the window on the daybed and read, dine indoor or out, light the fire and open a bottle, this escape is designed to revitalise and remove all those city woes. Outside you will find verandahs, a fire pit, outdoor dining, bbq and epic views. There is also a lock up garage to keep your car secure.  We live on the property in the main house which is located 300 metres away, completely separate and out of sight from the Barn House. Should you need anything we are around and can be easily contacted by mobile. The beauty of the Strathbogie Ranges and Ruffy, in particular, is the untouched nature and seclusion. Pristine creeks wind through the lush rolling hills punctuated by the stunning granite boulders and are home to an abundance of native flora and fauna. The air here is fresh and the night sky is completely unpolluted which make for excellent stargazing by the fire. The neighbouring properties nestled amongst the rocky outcrops and lush vegetation of the Strathbogie Ranges include a biodynamic orchard, wineries, market gardens, etc. There are plenty of excellent walks in the area and you can walk for hours without seeing anyone. There is no public transport, which guarantees your seclusion. When you exit the Hume Freeway take the Longwood-Ruffy road, drive slowly and watch out for kangaroos, wallabies and wombats which cross the road frequently. Thus enabling you to take in the excellent views and realise you have left the city far behind. I would recommend trying to get up here before dark as there is quite a lot of wildlife on the Longwood-Ruffy Rd.
