Mini MackHouse: magical escape to Gloucestershire

Welcome to our slice of magic, the CoachHouse on our family home just outside Stroud in Gloucestershire. Whether it’s the award winning market that you’ve come to experience, the culture or events of Cheltenham, Bath, Gloucester or Bristol, or the beautiful countryside, Stroud (recently voted best place to live in the UK by The Times) has something for everyone. Set in a south facing bowl, surrounded by a magical garden, Mini MackHouse is incredibly well equipped and beautifully appointed. You have exclusive use of the studio and, if required, the laundry and utility room downstairs (especially useful for after muddy walks!) plus access to the gardens, tennis court, cricket wicket and children’s equipment. You also have shared use of and open access to our gardens including the astroturf tennis court, our cricket wicket and our children’s play equipment. The inside space is really well thought through - six of us lived here for a year whilst our house was renovated - and whilst we would not recommend a party of that size (!) we are happy to welcome well behaved children who will love sleeping in the attic. Within the garden we have plenty of fun for children including trampolines, slides and swings of all sorts. You may also like to collect eggs from the chickens in the morning. We prefer to give you space to enjoy your time here but it’s lovely to meet new people through this experience too. We have lived in lots of places all over the world but always said that the Stroud Valleys was the best. Turns out The Times agrees with us! The Farmers market in Stroud on a Friday and Saturday is amazing Rodborough and Minchinhampton Commons - beautiful outdoor spaces Nailsworth - a loveLy market town with lots of great shops and restaurants Cirencester - the Roman town that so many call the capital of the CotswoldS Cheltenham - for the races, the festivals and the art Gloucester - for the cathedral, the docks and the history Bath - for the abbey, the baths, the shopping and just getting lost whilst wandering Bristol - for the vibrant culture and arts scene Giffords Circus - magical experience founded here in Lypiatt and cycling distance in the summer Slad valley - beautiful walks where you can reminisce about cider with Rosie Pubs and Gastropubs galore - and plenty of great craft beers and ciders to go with them It’s beautiful to walk or cycle but there is no public transport so you will need a car or a budget for taxis (which always feel expensive!) Minimum stay is set to two nights, which we generally prefer, but if you would like to come for just one night pls drop us a note and if we can accommodate you we will.
