Nerola cottage is perfect place to get away from it all. It feels secluded and cosy, for 2 people with stunning sea views and sunsets, perched on a hill on the edge of the Cilento National Park. It is surrounded by countryside, wildlife and tranquility. It has a private patio, garden, hammock, plunge pool (June to September), sunloungers, outside and inside eating areas, a feeling of home from home. The closest sandy beach is 10km. Closest village 2.5km. Excellent wifi. Open all year round. Nerola Cottage offers spectacular sea views (even from the bed) and magnificent sunsets across to the Amalfi Coast. It is detached, private and quiet with it's own gardens, plunge pool and areas to relax and enjoy everything nature has to offer. Wildlife is in abundance with birds, butterflies and geckos. The gardens are full of plants and herbs, olive trees and shrubs. Surrounded by 5 acres of land. This stone cottage is spacious, light and airy and is like a home from home offering everything you would need for a self catering holiday with the sunshine. There is a plunge pool to cool you down in the hotter months and a woodburning stove to warm you in the cooler months. Excellent wifi connection. The access to the cottage is by a 350m long private track which is quite steep and gravelled. A small car and a confident driver is required to get up the track. We offer our guests complete privacy at all times but are here for help or advice if you need us. The whole cottage and private patio, garden and plunge pool is for the sole use of the guests. A car is essential which can be hired opposite the railway station at Agropoli if required. Our house is 30m from the cottage but we always allow our guests complete privacy at all times. Although the cottage is in a rural location it is close to the village of San Martino 2km which has 2 coffee bars, a very good small grocery shop and pharmacy. Laureana Cilento 2.5km has a restaurant within a small hotel (open in the summer) and post office. The larger village of Torchiara is less than 6km where there are 3 supermarkets, bank and restaurants. Agropoli beach, town and marina is 10km. Santa Maria di Castellabate coastal village is 15km. There are country walks all around as we are on the edge of the Cilento National Park. The immediate area is like going back in time with olive groves, goats and donkeys and offers a slower pace of life. There are local festivals throughout the year. Locally grown fruit and vegetables are available in all the shops. There is a small weekly market in Torchiara and a larger one in Agropoli. The local wines are delicious as is the icecream, fish, pasta and so much more. The farms near Paestum are only a 20 minute drive where you will taste the creamiest buffalo mozzarella you have ever tasted. Whilst there you can also visit the magnificent 3 Greek temples. The sea and beaches in this area have been awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness and safety. You can hire motor boats, there are also privately organised boat trips. Small ferries run in July and August from Agropoli to the Amalfi Coast and south to Palinuro. Larger ferries run from Salerno to the Amalfi Coast and Capri from April to October. Our private track is 350m long, steep and uneven in places so it is necessary to drive a small, light car. The train service is reliable and cheap. The closest railway station is in Agropoli (15 mins drive) where there also is a car hire office. The trains run directly to Naples (the fast one is 1hr 10mins) and also from Rome Termini (3.5 hrs). Access to the cottage is by a private track of 350m long which is steep and uneven in places so a small and light car is required to get up the track. Otherwise you can safely leave your car on the first bend of our track or at the bottom. We can help with luggage and shopping if required. The price includes a supply of logs for the woodburning stove (more is available at 15 euros a wheelbarrow) and the price also includes a 15kg bottle of gas for the heater and further bottles are available at what we pay, 25 euros a bottle.
