Cottage Garden Bungalows - Bungalow 1

From the moment you step into Cottage Garden Bungalows 1-3, set amidst a lush tropical garden in College Avenue, Mount Lavinia, you will enjoy the serenity and comfort of a elegantly furnished bungalows in an exclusive private setting. Located about 50 meters from the iconic Mount Lavinia Beach, these Bungalows are ideal for a getaway weekend, or for a longer stay. Bunglows 1,-3, each has a large room, with windows on two sides, kitchenette, bathroom/toilet, verandah and a large garden space. Bungalow 1 is the corner most bungalow and has a large garden space. The bungalow has a spacious bed room with 2 single beds, TV, worktable, chairs, cupboards with A/C. A newly refurbished bathroom/toilet is attached. The bungalow has its own fully equipped kitchenette with refrigerator, cooker, saucepans, curlery and crockery. You can cook your own meals. We do serve breakfast at $4 per person which you would have to order the day before. If you enjoy verandah or porch living, this is the space to have your morning tea/coffee and enjoy the garden, birds, squirrels or an evening chat and drink. Bungalow 1 is specially ideal for families with small children and there is plenty of space for a cot or extra bed. It has a large garden which is safe for children to run around and has a garden tap and hose to cool down. This bungalow is also a favourite with my long stay guests. They love having breakfast in the garden under the shade. There are 3 bungalows and I have listed 2 on airbnb - Bungalow 1 and Bungalow 2. A discount is possible if both bungalows are rented. My guests have a large bedroom, kitchnette, bathroom and private verandah. The garden space around the bungalows is available to all. My bungalow caretaker Ranjith is available to you at all times. I live next door and always have time for my guests. On special occasions I invite guests to celebrate with me and am available to organize bus train tickets or organize a tour of Colombo or any part of our beautiful island. Your are just 2 minutes from the iconic Mount Lavinia beach. Start the day with a stroll along the beach and end the day watching the sunset. The neighborhood is a combination of residential, hotels,guest houses and restaurants as well as S.Thomas' College a very prestiges boys' school in Sri Lanka. On the beach, you will be amazed at the diversity and variety of foods from the local rice and curry to Indian, Chinese, Malay and Western cuisine, with sea food specialty. My favourite hangout is the La Langousterie which on a weekend has a live band, good food and plenty of space. The best frozen margaritas are made in the La Voile Blanch. Practically all restaurants offer bar service (suspended on full moon, or Poya holidays, considered sacred in the Buddhist calendar). However, the beach restaurants are pricey and don't exactly offer typical local menus. For local food, the Galle road has many little eating houses with good food at very reasonable prices. If, you are looking for fast food, there are many such outlets between Mount Lavinia and Dehiwela along Galle Road (about 200 meters from the Bungalows), which offer global brands such as Burger King, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), Barista, Pizza Hut, Domino’s Pizza, etc. There are also many fine patisseries, bakery goods outlets, cafes, bars and pubs. For fine dining you could try the Mount Lavinia Hotel or more informal hotels like La Rambla, Toby’s Estate, etc., or you can sample street food at wayside eateries, godamba, kottu roti, kadale, vadai, and so on. The choice is endless. Public transport by bus or train is very close. The Galle road, which is a major road is 200 meters away and the train station 15 minutes walking or 5 minutes in a tuk tuk. If I am not busy I will always pick you up or drop you off at the station. My guests love to travel by train. There are also meter taxis available on call or for a longer tour, a van can always be arranged. . The sea is safe for swimming from October to beginning of May each year. Despite an urban setting, the beach is virtually empty during the week from morning till late afternoon. However, locals and visitors throng the beach in the evenings, and on weekends and public holidays.
