Funky lost-in-nature remodeled sheepfold
Willing to experience the real Tuscan countryside and get in contact with local people? Welcome to our farm! This luminous and stylish apartment is the perfect holiday house for a group or a family of four. Built in a former sheepfold, this large and sunny house is perfect for quiet and peaceful vacation for families, couples or group of friends. The kitchen-living room is a wide open-space with an iron and glass door opening on the lawn. At the sides of the house, there are two bedrooms (one with double bed and one with two single beds that can be turned into another double) and two bathrooms with shower. In front of the kitchen there is a large terrace for outdoor eating. Nestled on top of a large truffle forest, the house is part of a sun-filled “casa colonica” that has been separated into four apartments. While certain traditional architectural details have been preserved, we chose to introduce design touches creating a peculiar and unique environment. The rent is part of our 500 hectares organic farm. When choosing to stay with us, our guests have the unique opportunity of sharing the everyday life of a Tuscan working farm. They'll be in contact with gorgeous nature and with an Italian and international staff. Lost in the countryside and very quiet, this is a house that encourages solitude, while also offering space for gathering. The house has a shared swimming pool (10m x 5m, not heated) open from May to September. There's a shared laundry, BBQs and a shaded room with ping-pong table. The wild forests surrounding the house have multiple hiking trails that take you through both young and old woods, with glimpses of stunning views over the ragged landscape. You'll have a map of the property when you check-in. The main farm building is at 20 minute walk (3-5 minute drive - 1,2 km on a dirt road) downhill. At the office in the main farmhouse, Guido & his team are always happy to help & share tips and stories. There is also a small shop where we sell our own organic meat, olive oil, honey and white truffles (when in season), as well as other local and organic basic products. Around the main farm building, you can visit many animals – who often become the main attraction of our youngest guests: cows, pigs, cats… Why did we decide to share our farm on AirBnb? Because we love getting in touch with our guests. Some days a week you can find Guido and Ilaria at the farm office. The hosts Jill & Jason are often around the property, happy to help you in case you need assistance or suggestions about the area. And if you don't need anything... it's still great to have a chat, share our stories, go to visit the stable or the veggie garden, or taste some of the products of the farm. Cooking classes, seasonal fruit classes, and white truffle hunting experiences (Oct - Dec) are activities offered on site. We also have a gastronomia delivery service (lasagne, salad & tiramisù under request), a chef who can come and cook for you or a massage therapist ready to help you relaxing (all these activities are not included in the rate). To take care of a 500-hectar organic farm you need to love it deeply. We believe nature to be excellent in carrying on its own tasks, but we like to give our contribution to bring harmony in the delicate balance between its needs and our own. The results make us feel we are the privileged dwellers of a heaven's corner. The attention that AirBnB puts towards the upkeep and care of one's living space pairs perfectly well with our mission. Every bit of help our guests would like to offer toward the maintenance and upkeep of our property will be welcome. The surroundings are genuinely dedicated to tourism and agriculture and therefore offer a rare glimpse into authentic Tuscany. There are multiple organic farms & local producers in the area. The farm is an hour drive from Firenze, Pisa, Livorno, and one hour and 15 minutes from Siena and Lucca. San Gimignano, Volterra and less hectic Certaldo & San Miniato are very close (about 30 minutes drive). Our dedicated guide book that we give you at check in will help you get the most out of the area, with tips on how to visit a local goat cheese farm, where you're most likely to spy some wild boars, which wineries are worth stopping in on, what classic drink you should order when visiting Livorno, the best artisans for souvenir shopping, and more. Our farm is an hour's drive from both Pisa and Florence international airports. While some guests do come by taxi and spend their vacation relaxing in the sun and exploring the property, you will need a car to visit any restaurants, shops, or local towns. The roads at the farm are all dirt roads (that you can easily drive on with a city car) and there is shaded parking at the house. You're going to stay on a working farm. We've dirt roads connecting the houses to the main farm building. Regular cars are fine, but low sport cars are not recommended for driving within the farm. This is an organic farm. That means living nature, including... insects, especially during summer. If you're allergic to bees or wasps, this might not be the right place for you. This is a place where to disconnect from a busy life: no Tv, no DVD players, no air conditioning, just (gorgeous) nature, BBQs, walks, and exploring. Bring appropriate shoes (if it rains it can be muddy) and expect real (yet very comfortable) countryside living. From the last week of September to December, only on specific days, you may find hunters on the property. They help keeping the wild boar population that lives within the farm under control (boars do love white truffles). Our farm is a working farm and, while the utmost care is taken to provide a family-friendly experience, there are inherent dangers present in such a natural setting. Some guests suggested to remember that vipers can be in the area, though it is extremely rare meeting them. Some guests are scared of the dark, so please take note that the streets in the countryside have no lights. By completing a booking, guests accept full responsibility for their safety and the safety of all members of their party. We provide linen and towels, kitchen cloths, hand soap, soap and sponges for the plates and toilet paper. Free wireless internet access is available from the house. In fall, winter and early spring the house of Brentina might not be connected to the internet between sunset and sunrise. This is because the internet signal is bounced by a solar-powered antenna, and having a few hours of sun the batteries might not have enough energy to work at night. Please consider to book another apartment if the internet connection is vital for you and you're coming in low season. Available Extras: HEATING: it is not included in the rental. We ask € 5/cubic meter based on the actual usage. Extra mid-stay cleaning and linen change (must be requested at least one week before arrival): € 85 Baby cot (cm 120x60) + highchair: €15 per stay (covers not provided) Baby bathtub: € 5/stay Baby kit (0-6 months): baby cot (120x60 cm) (covers not provided), highchair, baby bathtub, changing pads: € 20/stay Toddler kit (6 months - 2 years): baby cot (120x60 cm) (covers not provided), highchair, plastic plates, changing pads, toilet reducer: € 20/stay Firewood: €5 per crate
