Set in the sussex countryside our beautiful showman's wagon is now resting. She has spent many years looking after showman travelling around the countryside housing show folk and fair ground people. Her history and that of the travelling community is a magical fascinating part of history. It is a privilege for us to own and gives us pleasure to be able to share with anyone who would like to stay. The garden and surrounding countryside are part of the charm of our wagon in summer and winter. The wagon has a cosy seating area, a fold down table, we have equipped her with a double plug in electric hob, kettle and toaster for light cooking, saucepans cutlery plates cups glasses, there is a very small 4ltr fridge just big enough for a bottle of milk and a can or two, a 5ltr pump flask is there with water and can be filled from outside tap. There is two heaters that keep the wagon nice and warm. A picnic basket with picnic plates glasses and cutlery are also provided should you want to have a picnic. Tea coffee and sugar, Bread ,Milk, Butter, Marmalade or Jam are all provided and we leave a welcome basket with a few extra goodies for you to enjoy. The bedroom area has a standard double bed and there is a dvd tv with some dvds so you can watch some films should you wish to. Clean bedding sheets and towels are all provided, we do ask that you don't take the towels to the beach and bring your own beach towel. Outside is a table and chairs a small BBQ overlooking a large private garden which is reached by some steps for you to use should you wish to. The old outside toilet has been turned into a wet room with a corner loo sink and shower. Please note that due to the rural location the water pressure can sometimes drop, if this does happen the shower may not work for a short time it is something that we are used to living with and does not happen very often, we apologise should this happen it is just part of living in such a beautiful setting. If you should be visiting us in the colder months the shower room can be a little chilly, but once the hot water gets going it soon feels warm. The wagon unfortunately is not suitable for dogs so we have decided it is best that we don't allow them. Unfortunately due to bad connection the wifi does not always work. There is parking for a car in the driveway next to the wagon , the wagon is on the same level as the car. Should you need anything we are available in the cottage next to the Wagon, although sometimes we maybe out you can get hold of us via txt. Due to COVID 19 we are doing all we can to make our guests feel safe. We are no longer greeting our guests. You can let yourselves into the wagon and there will be a list of everything you need . Should you need to talk with us then we are happy to chat at a distance or on the phone. The Wagon is situated next to a thatch cottage down a country lane in a designated area of natural beauty. The surrounding countryside is all part of the history of 1066 and the footpath that passes in front of the cottage and wagon is part of the 1066 walk which enters some beautiful woodland and so the wagon sits in a very special place. The old town of Hastings is a 10 mins drive away, the historic town of Rye is 20 mins away, and Battle is 25mins, Brighton and Tunbridge Wells are about an hour and 20 mins away. There are some very beautiful beaches near , Pett level is 5 mins down the road by car and Camber sands takes about 25 mins to get to in the car, Fairlight country park is a short drive away and has some beautiful walks. At Pett level there is a bird reserve. There are many lovely pubs and restaurants in Rye and Hastings. " The two Sawyers "pub in Pett, is possible to walk to via a footpath through the woods or via the road from the wagon, it takes about 10 to 15 mins, they do serve food and it is advisable to book if you do want to eat there or any of the other restaurants as they do get busy. Main line stations are Hastings and Rye. There is a Taxi service just outside Hastings station, if you are coming by train and Taxi please let me know so I can give you the best directions for the Taxi driver . There are some lovely shops in Hastings old town and the historic town of Rye. Should you need any groceries there are several stores in Ore which is a five minuit drive away.
