The "Jharokha" (Balcony) Room in Jaisalmer Fort!
Hi! Welcome to my place which is located on the East Fort Wall of the Jaisalmer Fort (An 854 year old UNESCO World Heritage Site). Not only you can see the half of Jaisalmer city from my place but also relax, sit back and soak in the whole vibe of the city. Since this place of mine is more than 200 year old, I have tried my best to keep the historical essence of it yet make it comfortable for my guests. Once here, you'll witness the authentic Rajasthani way of life! The Place: Hi! Welcome to my house which is located towards the East wall of the Jaisalmer Fort (an 854 year old UNESCO World Heritage Site) and is more than 800 years old itself. This property was renovated around 20 years back and I decided to look after it 8 years ago. Since it is located on the East Fort Wall, The view from the rooftop is that of the Jaisalmer city below and of the Sunrise when the day breaks. I have tried my best to keep the historical essence of this place intact while also trying my best to make it look authentic in the modern era. The Room: The room being shown here is one of our special rooms and it is named as “The "Jharokha" Room” because "Jharokha" in Rajasthani Language means a small Balcony in which you can sit and relax. The room has an attached bathroom with access to 24 Hours Hot & Cold water. The Air Conditioning in the room can cool the room to desired room temperature in a few minutes. The bed is a King-Size bed with soft mattress for your comfort along with a single bed for a 3rd person coming along with you. The “Jharokha” (a small balcony) of the room has beautiful Sand stone carvings and while sitting there on the soft cushions, you can relax, soak in and enjoy the magnificent view around. The Area: This property of mine is located inside the Jaisalmer Fort and a walk of 100 metres from the main square reaches you to our place. While walking from the main square, you’ll see various shops selling colourful Rajasthani items and various restaurants inviting you with their delicious aroma. As you reach towards my place, a “Peepal” tree is what you’ll witness giving shade to all the houses around. Since my pace is located on the East Fort Wall, the view of the city and the place ahead is mesmerising. Here, you’ll not only rejuvenate yourself, but also experience a different world altogether.
