The Shack at Water Street
The Shack at Water Street is located on The Wallkill Valley Rail Trail in New Paltz, NY. It overlooks the Wallkill River, is across from Water Street Market and an easy walk to downtown New Paltz. The Shack is a small, quiet space that has been designed to take advantage of its special location. Upstairs main room features picture windows overlooking the river. A couch, swivel recliner and sleeper sofa provide sitting area that converts to additional bed. There is also a bathroom/shower upstairs. Note: there is a slant to the floor. Downstairs bedroom includes Queen bed facing view of the river along with bathroom/shower. Note: the small set of stairs to the bedroom are steep. Front entry room also includes sleeper sofa along with access to small deck facing river. Kitchenette for minor food preparation includes table/chairs, small fridge, sink, toaster oven and microwave. Second deck located off kitchen also faces the river and provides excellent views. Heating/cooling units beneath picture windows upstairs and downstairs are controlled by their respective remotes. The Shack is a rental property managed by the Steffens family. Communication is handled remotely with local support available, if needed. The Shack is surrounded by both natural beauty and unique commercial options. Walk the Rail Trail, gaze out over the river, visit Water Street Market's shops and cafes or venture to downtown New Paltz. There are 2 parking areas (one on either side of the house). The Shack is also an easy walk from the New Paltz Trailways Bus Terminal. There is a TV with Roku (no cable). Summer ‘21 - our neighbors have been hosting live music on the weekends, so it’s been louder during those days. The loft area is for storage only and should not be accessed. There is a boat launch area just down the Rail Trail. Canoe/kayak rentals available through New Paltz Kayaking tours online.
