Double Bedroom with en suite bathrm, nr Loch Ness
A large, light room in a spacious, secluded family house with a large, mainly wooded hillside garden in the beautiful scenic Highlands of Scotland, near Loch Ness. Handy for the Great Glen Way, the new Loch Ness 360 Trail, the Great Glen Canoe Trail and the Affric/Kintail Way, and is within an hour of both the Cairngorms National Park and Ben Nevis. The bedroom faces south, overlooking the patio and the woods beyond. In the winter you can glimpse Loch Ness through the trees but the leaves veil it the rest of the year. Quiet, comfortable and well appointed, it's the perfect base for your Highland holiday. The bedroom is on the ground floor overlooking a south-facing patio and the woodland beyond. The en suite bathroom includes a bath with integral shower; handwash, handcream, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are all supplied. Towels, bathrobes, bedlinen, and hair dryer are all provided, as are a kettle with coffee, tea and tisanes, and a table top fridge. On fine days, please wander round the garden, sit on the benches and look at the view, or take your coffee outside onto the patio where there are chairs and a table. Due to the pandemic the kitchen and dining room are unfortunately no longer available for guests to use, so a fridge has been added to the room's amenities. Breakfast can be provided at extra charge. I'm usually at home, working in the garden on fine days, and always happy for a (socially distanced) chat. About five minutes walk from Loch Ness, which can sometimes be seen from the house through the trees. The Great Glen Way is a few hundred yards from the house and it's ten to fifteen minutes walk to the village of Drumnadrochit, with cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops. Urquhart Castle is three miles away. There is parking space for three cars outside the house. Trains from Edinburgh and Glasgow run to Inverness, 14 miles away. Inverness airport is about 20 miles away. Bus services passing through Drumnadrochit run from Inverness to Fort William, Skye and Cannich. The service is less frequent on Sundays, and on Bank Holidays. Timetables have also been altered during the Coronavirus outbreak. The bus stops are in the village of Drumnadrochit, by the Post Office, 1.2km walk from the house. The last part of the walk involves a steep hill and is not advisable with suitcases. Toiletries in the bathroom (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, handwash and handcream) are made by Ness Soaps, a local social enterprise which improves life chances for disadvantaged young people in the Highlands, and use only natural ingredients and essential oils.
