This beautiful country cottage is located in one of Somerset's most quintessential towns, Somerton. From the minute you pull up, you will be in awe of the pretty stone exterior with its charming doors and leafy surroundings. Inside, the cottage has retained much of its original features such as the decorative cast iron fireplace and wooden sash windows. The crisp white walls have been tastefully paired with antique mirrors, rattan rugs and wool furnishings. The living room is snug and cosy, with a large sofa to spread out and relax in front of a movie. Original flagstone flooring runs throughout the downstairs, from the living room into the bespoke shaker-style kitchen. Here you'll find plenty of mod-cons for cooking up hearty meals as well as a breakfast bar for your morning coffee. On warm days, head out through the door and you'll find a well-kept courtyard garden equipped with furniture and a barbecue should you wish to eat or drink alfresco! There is also ample space to park a few bikes safely undercover. Upstairs you'll find two bedrooms on the first floor and a third up in the attic. The master boasts a comfortable king-size bed, elegant antique furniture and calming views over luscious greenery. There's an en-suite bathroom to boot, with a shower and lovely soaps. Next door is the second bedroom with a single bed, and a family bathroom with both a shower and bath. Upstairs, the attic room is a delightful hideaway featuring two iron single beds, as well as a desk and chest of drawers. Brooklyn Cottage is perfect for couples or families looking to get away from it all and experience stylish country living at its very best. Dogs are welcome with a fee of £20/dog (max 2). It is on the condition they are not allowed on the soft furnishings or in the bedrooms. Brooklyn Cottage is a charming period property that has retained many of its original features, such as the cast iron fireplace and sash windows. It is pleasantly situated in a Conservation Area overlooking the pretty Cow Square and church. It is well situated close to the tree-lined Broad Street and within a few minutes' walk to all of the towns local amenities. Guests will have access to the whole property. We will be available via call, text or email for the duration of your stay. The cottage is located on a pretty square in Somerton, a town that dates right back to the Medieval Ages. You're just a stones throw from the town's lovely shops and cafes, such as The Courtyard Cafe and The Buttercross Tearooms. For brilliant gastro-pub dining head to The White Heart, with its sunny courtyard beer garden and newly renovated dining rooms. A new addition to the town is the highly recommended restaurant Market 28, Dan Fletcher (finalist from The Great British Menu) heads up the kitchen and it has been recently added to the Michelin Guide. There are plenty of National Trust opens houses and gardens nearby; Barrington Court, Montacute House, Lytes Cary Manor and Tintinhull House to name a few. Other lovely gardens to visit are at Hestercombe, Forde Abbey, East Lambrook Manor and Midney. For activities, head to Leach's Pottery at Muchelney, the Somerset Cider Brandy Company at Burrow Hill, the Artisan workshops at Barrington Court and Brown, Forrest Smokery and the Viaduct Fishery. With miles and miles of uninterrupted countryside to explore in Somerset, you're spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing walks. The infamous Glastonbury is nearby, a must-visit if only to go to the Tor - stunning views await! Or perhaps try the Mendip Hills, Quantock Hills or Blackdown Hills - all Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Around 30 minutes away is Shepton Mallet, with brilliant outlet shops in Kilver Court such as Mulberry and Toast. Tie this in with a visit to the beautiful Kilver Court Gardens and lunch at The Great House. Nearby Wells is the smallest cathedral city in England. Go to visit the historic Market Place, Cathedral and the brilliant independent restaurants on offer. The cottage is also a short drive from Millfield School if visiting and additional shopping can be found at the Clarkes outlet village. Due to the remote nature of the cottage, we would suggest visiting with a vehicle. There is free parking on or around Broad Street, a short walk from the cottage. As a period cottage, there are low ceilings and un-even flooring inside.
