Northeastern Connecticut has a quiet heritage known as "The Last Green Valley", there are things to do, and history embedded in unlikely places. Getting here is by car, bus and train service difficult. It is three hours to NYC, 2 to Boston, a half hour or one hour to ocean beaches, a quick hour to the Connecticut River Valley. This part of Connecticut is not tourist oriented; there are things to do, but you do need to drive a bit to get to them. The house is situated on hundreds of acres of protected farmland. No farm animals on the premises. The backyard view is a small swamp/pond, farm fields, open sky. The pool is non-heated. June and July and August, the water temperature is fine. This house sleeps 8. Fantastic place for friends getting together for an individualized yoga retreat, family reunions, couples who want a whole house, family gatherings. Great for those who enjoy an off the beaten path destination, or want a country setting without being totally backwoods. A simple house with light and views. Pool opens May 2021 Strong Wifi for zoom schooling or remote work. Setting up a zoom office in one of the rooms. Whole house. No one else has access to the house while you are there. Towels, soap, and shampoo all provided. Everything in the fridge and cupboards is yours to enjoy. There is a grill on the back porch by the pool. Plenty of backyard space for sports, bring your badminton, croquet sets for backyard fun. Charter Spectrum TV and Wifi, and a smart TV. If you are a runner, fabulous local runs if you head out of the driveway and to the right, and then at the end of the road, a left. The lone tree you see in the field in the west is depicted on the back of the Connecticut Quarter, as an emblem of the Charter Oak of the Constitution. The artist who designed the Quarter used this tree as a model. I am next door. Text, call 24 hours a day for assistance. It's nice to meet you briefly to make sure you are all set. Pretty walks, bike rides, a very private backyard, and a natural wild trout stream a short walk away. Scenic hilly bike rides. Head into town, Willimantic, for local restaurants. Top picks for breakfast: That Breakfast Place, or Thread City Diner, Blondies. For Dinner try the excellent small plates fare at Cafemantic on Main Street for dinner. Beer lovers will find the homemade brews at the Willimantic Brewing Company exceptional. Great hand cut French Fries at Aero Diner, in an old dining car. Not Only Juice on Main Street has yummy homemade vegan food in a welcoming space. Visit The Harp on Church, for a Willi style Irish Pub. Great food and local atmosphere. A local coffee house, Grounded, serves up lattes and strong wifi. UCONN friendly Fenton River Grill, near the East Brook Mall for drinks and dinner. Yum. A 20-minute drive will take you to Storrs Center, with new shops and restaurants to enjoy. Car necessary. Induction cooking, cookware is in the house, but if you bring stovetop cookware, it must be magnet ready.
