Here is a space, back to nature after work or city life, a place to completely relax Come back to nature and feel energised! We have fishing, river swimming/water sports, and mountain hikes right on the doorstep! Ski stations are from 45km drive and leisure lakes in the summer. Open all year, this pretty private room with a shower and toilet, nestled up in a small mountain village, is independent from the main house. With the bonus of a beautiful shared terrace surrounded by the mountains and forest, with views of the gorge Pierre Lys and the white water River Aude below. This cosy space, about 11m2, has everything a person should need for a comfortable stay with the addition of outside space and kettle (closed) BBQ for cooking outside. A double bed, small folding table with two chairs, fridge, microwave, mijoteuse Crock-Pot and free coffee/tea facilities. Bed linen, towels and shampoo/soap are provided. There is cellar space to leave baggage and sports equipment. Parking is in the village square with a energetic 3 minute walk up, 70m to the room. Available from 14h, but luggage can be left earlier. Morning departure is at 10am. Not for people with walking disabilities. No animals and no smoking in the room. There is wifi but because of the mountains, the signal can sometimes be weak. The nearest shops, restaurants, take aways and bars are few kilometers away are Axat and Quillan. Shared terrace with BBQ. Basement to put bikes or other sports equipment. We speak English and french with a wide knowlegde of the region. There is a really feeling of calm and tranquility, being close to nature, here at Saint Martin Lys. With only 20 full time residence, this small Pyrennees listed village is in a stunning gorge in between the market town of Quillan, 11k and Axat, 5k, with their selection of restaurants and shops. This is the region steeped in history with many stunning medieval chateaux to visit and also the on the ‘route de vine’ between Carcassonne and Perpignan with its many vineyards. In the summer there are several leisure lakes within driving distance and you can swim, picnic and fish in our river which runs through the village. In the winter there are ski stations with winter sports facilities, the nearest about 45km drive. There are three beautiful walks in the village and stunning cycling roads following the Tour de France route which finishes, this year 2021, at Qullian, 11km away. Whitewater sports and rock climbing through the summer though it is advisable to book before arrival. There are local markets most days. The Spanish border and Andorra are 1.30 heures by car. A car is needed as the nearest shops and restaurants are 5 minutes drive away. Access to the houses in the village is by foot, with parking in the square by the Mairie and a energetic 3 minute walk, 70 meters up to the house.
