Private dbl room with own bathroom in central Hay
Good size bedroom on first floor in townhouse in central Hay. King size bed, wooden floors with separate, immediately adjacent private bathroom (bath, shower and WC) - both of these are on their own private landing to the right of the main staircase so very self-contained. Tea and coffee-making facilities provided in room along with fridge. The room also has a television, good internet access and radio. Please see below for parking info. Covid-19 - The house is arranged in a way that guests do not have to walk through any private areas of the house - the staircase is directly opposite the front door and each guest room is on the first floor on separate sides from each other. We are fully committed to following Welsh guidelines and doing everything we can to minimise any health risk to guests and ourselves(!). To that end, we may greet you in face masks while we show you to your room and possibly ask you to wear these between your room and the front door and we will be keeping the staircase and banisters clean and disinfected throughout the day. Your bathroom has anti-bacterial handwash provided although we would ask that you bring your own hand-sanitiser to use when out and about in the town (many shops provide it anyway). Shops also require that you wear a face mask when going inside so please also bring your own. As ever, each room will be thoroughly cleaned and aired between bookings and all bed linen washed at a minimum of 60 degrees. If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask! We have three dogs who live in the kitchen, living room and garden throughout the day but do not have access to any guest areas (hallway or stairs) so are entirely separate to people's comings and goings. As a result, though, we don't offer guest access to these additional rooms. We do not offer breakfast here, but there are multiple options nearby including The Granary (opposite), The Old Electric on Broad Street and Booths Bookshop café on Lion Street which have all proven firm favourites with visitors. The house is opposite Hay's clock tower and close to all of the town's bookshops, cafés, pubs and amenities. The Wye riverside walk is a 2 minute walk away, leading to The Warren open grassed area and its pebbled beach. Offa's Dyke passes through Hay on Wye and can be accessed in either direction close by. The T14 bus runs from Hay to Hereford (1 hour) and Hay to Brecon (40 mins) and now goes on to Cardiff. These run approximately every 2 hours in each direction and the full timetable can be viewed online. Private taxis are available in the town although need to be booked in advance. The main town car park is approximately 5 minutes walk away. The clock tower chimes throughout the night, so light sleepers may wish to bring earplugs if they think it will be a problem. We like it! Our parking is available via the alleyway shown in our photos which isn't suitable for very big cars. There are photos of this on the listing: the entrance is 2.4m wide but the alley reduces to 2.2m at its narrowest point. Most car dimensions are online if you need to check - but to give an idea, our Landrover Freelander 4x4 is fine with the mirrors tucked in! The alley is easier to turn right into (facing up the hill with your back to the clock) as you get the wider turn. There are nearby alternatives in the town (including free) which we can direct you to if necessary.
