Charming bedroom in Old Manor House
'Picardie' is the former bedroom of the Marquis who built this house. We have restored the room, adding an en-suite bathroom with a claw footed, slipper bath, toilet and basin, but keeping the original grandeur - chestnut parquet and fireplace. Picardie is in the oldest part of the house. The floor boards are Chestnut fixed with hand-made nails, but the bathroom is new, with a claw footed, roll-topped slipper bathtub, for you to plunge in to! Relax in the south facing garden, or enjoy a of wine (or two!!) on the terrace, or by the roaring log fire in the Grand Salon in the winter. We are here to look after you morning and night, we can tell you the best places to visit whether you are interested in a city tour of Limoges, visiting Flea Markets and Antique shops or just relaxing in the tranquil Limousin countryside. Rooms are available on a B&B basis or why not join the table for dinner! Tucked away in a quiet backstreet in the Medieval heart of La Souterraine, yet a stones throw away from the shops, bars and restaurants of the towns centre. The house was built in 1790 between the 12C and 14C town walls part of which encircles our garden. There are a number of historic sites to visit including the Crypt, the Porte Saint Jean and the Tour de Bridier. Further afield there are the Ruins at Crozant, Vallee des Peintres, Porcelain at Limoges, Tapestry at Aubusson, Wolves at Gueret....... We are ten minute stroll from the train and bus station. Less than 10 minutes from the A20 and N145 Autoroutes, 35 minutes from Limoges International Airport, so getting around could not be easier! We have private secured parking in our courtyard in which you can park during your stay.
