The R-J Rabble's Retreat
The R-J Rabble's retreat is a private cabin in the corner of our family garden. Totaling 30 sqm it provides a snug glamping experience for you to bed down after a day’s walking on Wenlock edge or exploring life in the Shire. Ideal for families, couples, walkers, and cyclists. Previously our family home whilst building our own house – An open plan wooden shed, insulated and converted to include a double bed, lounge area with TV and kitchenette (small fridge, hob & oven), with separate toilet and shower room. A log-burner features in the centre of the cabin and extra wood is available on request. Please note that this is the only source of heating… it gets super toasty but if you are not familiar with fire making or stoves, perhaps best for a summer stay, although many guests enjoy tucking in away from the British weather as it’s super snug if you tap into your inner scout. A double mattress is available on the mezzanine for 2 kids (access via a ladder). Space is ideal for 2 adults (or 2 adults & 2 children). No hidden costs - all included. We live on-site in the nearby house so are available to give you the key for the cabin on arrival, after-which you can come and go as you please. The Camping cabin is completely separate, and so is yours to enjoy privately in a dedicated corner of our 1 ½ acre site. Free parking for 1 car is available on the site, for you to use throughout your stay. We are happy to give advice and are there to help, but respect your privacy, so unless you need us we will leave you to enjoy the peace of the cabin, the garden and the surrounding area. We are a family of 5 so there is always something going on and although our children and animals are mostly well-behaved we hope that you embrace our menagerie and the antics that go with a busy family life. We are happy for you to make use of our garden facilities including a fire-pit, small sensory garden for young children and of course the barbeque for the best of British weather! We have a range of animals and can provide you with fresh free range eggs from our hens, sausages from our pigs or provide dry wood for the fire. If you would like to order then please e.mail us in advance so we can make sure they are ready for your arrival. Prices on request We are located in the heart of Shropshire, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, opposite the historic Wenlock Edge, famous for its walks, fossils, and wild flowers. Much Wenlock, a pretty unspoilt market town, birthplace of the modern Olympic Games, is less than 5 minutes’ drive away, and has a range of facilities such as tea shops, cafes, curry house, pubs and an award winning butchers and book shop. We can advise on walks in the area, trips and other general information, just let us know what you are interested in and we will be happy to help. Church Stretton, Cardingmill Valley and the Long Mynd are 25 minutes’ drive. 20 minutes’ drive to Ironbridge, 25 minutes’ drive to Ludlow, with its famous medieval castle and excellent restaurants. The larger town of Shrewsbury is 15 minutes’ drive, with its infamous folk festival and flower festival, appearing annually on the midlands calendar. We are in the country so the best way to travel around the area is by car. Much Wenlock is the nearest town and is less than 5 minutes drive away. Public transport is available but I wouldn’t rely on it entirely. Buses run from Shrewsbury, Telford and Bridgnorth to Much Wenlock and there are two local trains stations in nearby Shrewsbury and Telford. This has been our project for 4 years now, a progressive journey turning a derelict old chapel in a neglected field, into a family home and garden. Consequently, please don’t expect a polished country manor… more of a rustic, informal, friendly retreat full of life, fresh air and not forget the mud! Our Camping cabin sleeps 2 adults, in a double bed. Fresh bed-linen & towels are provided as part of the charge. The space can accommodate 2 additional children, sleeping on a mezzanine level at no extra cost.
