Founded 400 years ago by the Lord de Combis with funds gifted for his service in war by King Louis XIII. With its 400 years of history, the one metre thick castle walls keep the cool and keep the heat, and light and windows are everywhere. Two towers and two pigeonniers (an arrow slit or two) are apparent. Charming gardens are in all directions, fields and woods are there to explore. Surrounded by stunning views from the rolling hills of the Gers to the Pyrenees, delightful walks can be enjoyed in its grounds from the Parc, to the potager, to the vineyard, to the orchard, to the duck-pond, to the beehives, and from the prairies to the woods, where wild boar, deer and hare roam free. The chateau has been beautifully decorated with classical French and English furniture dating from 700 years to the modern. Homage is paid to heritage, and elements from across the world, old and new, ensure that each guest is made to feel at home. Refurbished to the highest standards, every room has an ensuite bathroom. Our honey, our jam, our herbs and our fruit are produced at the chateau, or by friends nearby. Samatan, our nearest town, is the duck and foie gras capital of the world, and home to one of France’s most famous markets. The ducks of Combis, complete with their own Duckingham Palace, are for ornament, in general. With absolute confidence we offer Combis. We offer our love and respect to its founding families. We preserve their coats of arms, and cherish every generation and family that has visited since. The decor therefore ranges from the ancient blazons within the grand salon to the Dennis the Menace in the music room. David Bowie gets more than a look-in. As do our guests. Local produce is outstanding and the local Monday morning market is among France's most famous. The Gers is famous for duck - and Samatan, our local town, is the capital of foie gras. A car is essential, but taxis can also be arranged. Natural beauty abounds and beautiful Toulouse, the Pyrenees and Spain are all within easy driving distance.
