Villa la Sorgente is a veritable fortress carved into the rock and overlooking the green sea of ​​the Umbrian hills, a few kilometers from the naturalistic park that houses the Springs of Clitunno where, in Roman times, Giove Clitunno was worshiped. The Romans were convinced that the depths of these waters hid this God. They began to frequent what is still today a true naturalistic and botanical Paradise also for its beauty. Not by chance since ancient times these places are considered by all as regenerating. Near here ther’re also the Tempitetto del Clitunno, a monument considered a World Heritage Site by Unesco. It’s a small church, dedicated to San Salvatore, in the shape of a Corinthian temple. In the past it was thought to be a Roman shrine, later rededicated as a church, but the presence of a cross in the center of the tympanum seems to prove that it was instead a Christian building from the beginning.
